Crafting Follower System Update (Coming in 3.1.5)

After calming down and rereading the text a last time, I came to the conclusion : bye-bye. And no one will care, I know. This company doesn’t deserve paying customers. They will never get it.

I’d wait to read the patch notes, they may very well address the things you’re upset about. We’ve already seen changes in the shop this season, such as minion scrolls going from 1 to 3 each week. May be more similar changes coming next season as well.

I was expecting it not to be the case, so really great news! Thank you

@Jeto after watching the videos I have found there is a huge miss in the cost info of the post. In the post it says that refining attributes costs only shards:

But in the video, it also asks for 1 follower crystal & 1 glyph!

Which is the real cost?

I think that’s the biggest thing the community was worried about, so good deal!

As mentioned, all costs in the tables shared already are the intended costs and this video is just from a staging server work in progress…

But I will follow up with the team just in case one table missing a row or I grabbed a staging version that had not been updated.

@Jeto what’s the logic behind the attribute costs? Why does 1 slot cost 1 follower crystal, but 3 slots cost 13 follower crystals?

If you buy a beer for £1, you wouldn’t expect to pay £13 for 4 beers.

I don’t see it as buying four beers but a nice shot of Macallan.

But beer and whisky are two different things. A slot is a slot.

The more slots you control, the less risk you’re taking when doing the re-roll, so the price goes up exponentially as a result. Pretty risky only locking down 1 or 2 spots for a reroll and then getting something you don’t want in the other slots.

As I was trying to say with my whiskey analogy, it’s the complexity you’re paying for, not the quantity.

Following up to the the Refine attribute costs:
As we are working off of multiple spreadsheets to create this blog for everyone, it does appear that when the tables were created for this blog, those resources were missed.

The Refine an attribute is intended to have 1 Follower Crystal & 1 Glyph, as this matches selecting the Attribute cost for selecting 1 attribute in Crafting costs (1 follower crystal and 1 glyph).

To that:

  • I have raised feedback that there should be more ways to attain follower crystals
  • Also mentioned with more ways to spend Glyphs now outside of the Battle Scrolls, can we look into adding more ways to get Glyphs

These are both things the team are looking into for 3.1.5! I’m sorry that these were missed in the blog, and hope everyone can understand.
[I’ll edit the tables now]

If I can make a suggestion. Add some to the bazaar rewards as its pretty lacking at the moment. Alot of the rewards like random follower crystals are great, but geared more for beginner and mid level players and the last 2 gold spots really have no place in even being there IMO. Gold is low priority, so it should be in the front and middle of the track, not at the end, that should be reserved for the really good stuff like gems, follower crystals, and glyphs.

We reach this really big spike of 400 gems midway which is great, but then it suddenly drops back down again after the 2 legendary relics, which just feels really odd.

As a related suggestion, KD rewards could also be updated. Currently, I receive shards almost every time as silver and gold rewards, which (especially in such quantities) is unnecessary. This is because 62.04% of the potential rewards include random shards. Here, 10% would be more than enough, while the probability of other rewards could increase. Aether could also be included among them.

Thought so, too good of a deal to be true  Thanks for the confirmation.

Could we get back the weekly glyph for Diamond marks? It was a nice offer and would make events a bit more interesting.

People are freaking out about glyphs as if the future doesn’t exist and they very well may boost the opportunities to obtain them for a reasonable cost. I trust it. Same song & dance every update post, then you go back and read the comments a month later and a huge majority the people that threatened to leave are still posting to this day lol.

Shouts to the devs. This game is great. The changes as of late have been so fun. It’s great that the whole family can get in on it too. Good work team. Appreciate you!

That’s cuz those that sing the same songs and dance the same dance are the ones who let the devs know about the issues they missed while they do their extensive QC.

Constructive criticism is one thing (and a good thing at that), but threatening to quit and talking crazy is just a bummer imo.

I’m just saying that these people make our passions possible. I wish the world would go a bit easier on them.

I am afraid that sometimes it is too easier to focus so much on the negative aspects that we forget about the positive ones. I always try to comment on both here because when they do thing right we should also say so. Every update comes with quite a long list of issues, although as time passes and fixes are introduced I believe the game keeps steadily improving, which is great.

However I do believe it is also important to point out the issues, mistakes and bad decisions. No matter how hard they work and try, they tend to take quite a lot of disappointing actions that cause player unrest and anger. These pile up with time and even me, who always try to look on the bright side and support the team, end up getting tired with the endless cycle of terrible decisions followed by player disappointment and complains that end up with nice fixes that should have been included on the original execution. I would really like to start seeing major changes that don’t require us to be upset and complain to then be fixed, instead of working perfectly from the beginning.

The issue, I guess, is that as you point out sometimes we tend to forget on giving constructive criticism and just vent our anger, which I believe it is unfair and doesn’t solve much. I also think we sometimes are too hard on them, but the last reworks have been pretty tough on players so our patience is running thin.

I love the game and it is true that as time passes it keeps on improving even though I don’t like too much the path the new reworks are following. I try to support the team as much as I can, and specially our suffering Jeto that has to take the brunt of our disatisfaction. I will always defend the need for constructive feedback and avoiding rage comments. But sometimes I really wish the team helped us on this by taking less player upsetting decisions.

Personally I really like how the crafting update looks and I am looking forward to it, but it is true that the latest crit nerf has been a huge blow on my optimism. Still, I am glad whenever we get the voices of those that are happy with the game and the recent changes so that the forum isn’t flooded only with negativity. :slightly_smiling_face:

I started this game about 7 months earlier, which I think was much, much better, before all the rework. I think the understaffed team would have done much better to refine the original system, improve it, bring in new events etc. Unfortunately, this was not the path they had chosen. Personally, I never threatened to leave, and I don’t now. Once the glass is full, I simply leave. A few months ago, I left Gems of War forever after six years of playing several hours a day. But there, I think I was lenient for a very long time against annoying changes…
