Community doubts about post-4.5 PQ3

Dear Jeto and dev team,

I know very well that the lack of answers on details about post 4.5 PQ3 means you have no information to share with us yet. Probably even you are in a similar situation to us, not really knowing how things will really be going forward after all the recent changes and therefore trying to avoid giving info and making promises without completely certainty.

However, a lot of players seem worried and uneasy about the lack of info on how the game will be after 4.5. It is clear that there will be no more new seasons, but this fact, the automation of adventures and the team taking on Marvel PQ suggest that there will probably also be a meaningful reduction in dev involvement in this game. This raises some questions that haven’t been answered yet, making a lot of players uneasy.

Therefore, here I will post the main doubts and worries I have felt from other players. I hate to add any pressure to you, but I do want to make sure you know that the current silence and absence of answers is making players worry and is hurting player motivation. The optimistic ones are trying our best to ask for patience and understanding, but the longer it goes on the worse it gets and more players quit. That is why any answer to the questions and doubts I will be posting will be really welcome.

1) Will there be festivals and date specific adventures?

We already have the new automated adventure calendar, which is great. But a common doubt is: what about festivals and date specific adventures (in the summertime, gongsgiving…). This is “old” content that is already in the game, so I believe it shouldn’t be too difficult to keep using it, even if it is automated as the regular adventures. Furthermore, now that we don’t have new seasons, the festivals may take part of their place as exciting time-limited events that break the monotony. So we want to know if we are going to have festivals back, really hoping the answer is yes.

2) Will there be new content, QoL improvements, fixes and other changes?

Without new seasons it seems that we won’t be having major updates. However, we want to know if we can still hope to get minor updates with QoL improvements, fixes, may some minor new content… I am not talking about anything big as the past reworks, but some minor changes as new offers (such as the thursday offer that was announced and we are still waiting for), adding some extra utility to a follower, including epic light scrolls in a replayable adventure. Mostly, we want to know if we can hope for the game to keep improving, or if it will be labeled as “finished” and will keep working with nothing new, just bug fixing and player support.

3) Will there be new achievements?

The last achievements were always tied to new seasons. Now that there will be no new seasons, will there be new achievements or players will have just the ones that have been released until now.

4) Feedback on the new adventure calendar.

After some weeks it seemed very clear how the adventure calendar would be: a non-replayable during the week, and a replayable during the weekend. Since there are 9 regular non-replayable and 9 regular replayable adventures, I guessed we would have a 9 week cycle. However, expeditions being during the week was a surprise. There are a couple of issues with the adventure calendar as we have seen until now that players don’t like. First, overlap days between the weekend replayables and the expeditions (we both know very well from past discussions how much players hate overlapping replayable adventures). Second, the expeditions being back to back (not sure about flametree, we will see) is definitely strange, it would be better to have them distributed along the calendar, instead of concentrated all together in a few hectic weeks (separated by a long time with just non-replayables during the week ).

As always, thank you very much for your hard work on trying to make this game as great as possible. The lack of new seasons is tough but I still hope that the game can slowly keep growing and improving.

Like I mentioned

I am regularly trying to get information and updates where I can. I have poked at the team again this week just to follow up on the client fix update we had intended to release this week and the XBOX compensation from like 2 weeks ago+ at this stage.

If I get anything, I’ll post in here!

My understanding is though, I don’t think there will be Festivals, but unsure as they could be scheduled out.

Fixes should still continue, like the next client update will fix the weird graphical earring issue. But I do not think there is “new” content incoming (this includes achievements).

Thank you for the answer. Your thoughts, while obviously being no official confirmation of anything, are still better than nothing, so I really appreciate it. We will keep waiting to see how things take shape. At least we know that you and the team are still there, as always, working for the game and for us players (within the limitations of your current circumstances, of course). :purple_heart:

i am also grateful to you, Jeto , for your swift response. although it still seems no new information is available.

is there any chance you could tweak the adventure schedule so the replayable adventures are not overlapping each other by a day on each end?

I have asked the team, so if I get word back then I’ll update my post

thank you very much.

I wanted to share some feedback regarding the recent statement on the forum that there likely isn’t any “new” content planned going forward, including achievements.

As a long-time player, that was honestly very discouraging to read.

Puzzle Quest still has a dedicated veteran player base that genuinely enjoys the game and wants reasons to keep engaging with it long term. Right now though, once players reach the endgame, there is very little meaningful progression or activity left outside of occasionally fighting a dragon or maintaining kingdoms. Over time, that makes the game feel stagnant, even for players who still love the core gameplay.

What makes this especially sad is that it feels like keeping endgame players engaged would not necessarily require massive expansions or huge development investments. Other games in the genre from this studio, like Gems of War, manage to keep veteran players active through systems that create ongoing goals and variety, even without constant major content drops.

There are many relatively lightweight additions that could dramatically improve long-term engagement, for example:

  • New achievements and long-term progression goals

  • Kingdom contribution systems

  • Rotating long tasks or missions

  • Spell-specific or team-building challenges

  • Weekly or monthly objectives

  • Cooperative contribution mechanics

  • More reasons to revisit kingdoms regularly

  • Challenge modes with restrictions or modifiers

These kinds of systems give veteran players goals to work toward and reasons to experiment with the game’s mechanics instead of simply logging in, fighting a dragon occasionally, and leaving again.

Without some form of ongoing endgame progression, many long-time players will eventually drift away… not because they dislike the game, but because there is no longer anything meaningful left to strive for.

I’m writing this because I care about the game and would genuinely love to see it continue to thrive. The core gameplay is still great, and it feels like there is a real opportunity to retain veteran players with relatively modest additions focused on replayability and long-term engagement.

Thank you for listening.
