Puzzle Quest 3 Storyline

Hello everyone,

It’s Sirrian here. I don’t drop into the forums much these days because running the company that makes PQ3, Gems of War, and now Marvel Puzzle Quest keeps me very busy. I’m always watching and listening to your ideas and feedback though, thanks to the tireless work of the amazing Jeto.

We’ve got a bitter-sweet announcement today to share from IP2 and 505 Games.

The Wedding Crasher Chapter 3 of Puzzle Quest 3 is finally here, and after a four-year journey across the vast realms of Etheria, it also marks the culmination of the game’s main storyline. Moving forward, Puzzle Quest 3 will continue with a regular rotation of events that will allow players to keep levelling heroes and enjoying the match-3 gameplay we love. We hope you’ve enjoyed the storyline of characters and adventures we’ve shared along the way!

Etheria still remains a place full of challenges to conquer, heroes to strengthen, and battles to enjoy, and we’re grateful to have you with us for every step of the journey. Please continue to share your feedback and we hope to have more news to share in the future. We’ll see you in Etheria!

So does this mean no more Seasons, or just no more season story content?

Obviously this is very big news, but I just wanted to jump in quickly with a post before there is any confusion or questions.

Puzzle Quest 3 will still have a rotation of Adventures and Open Archives. Actually, more open Archives than we have ran before.

4.5 Chapter 3 is the last Season content we are running, as that is how we delivery more story. The story has ended, and unfortunately as has Season events.

As for gear, minions, spells, items that were exclusive to Season Passes, exclusive old Minions, once I have some more clear information on how they will become available or continue to be available - I’ll do everything I can to be able to share it!

This is everything available to share right now, and I’m sorry there isn’t more but basically, once I have any specific information which I know will answer the questions on the way, we will post.

Another question to ask here is whether or not there will be any further advancement possible in the game through improving gear or spells beyond their current levels, or is what is currently in-game right now the final form of the live-service game? (i.e. the game will be on Update 4.5 in perpetuity moving forward)?

I believe at the moment the game will remain at 4.5, but I am not 100%.

I would expect at least, if there is a bug that requires a client update, the version would then need to change.

I suppose this also means that there will be no more new trophies in the future?

Sad times in etheria cant say i didnt feel it coming though  really would have expected a farewell event but a thank you gift to the community would be a nice gesture at least may i suggest mailing everyone a Evelines locket!

What will be the status for future trophies/achievements please?

Simple what we have available now is it :face_with_bags_under_eyes:

Still would be nice to get confirmation. Just because there’s no more story content doesnt mean achievements cant be added for events or any of the other stuff.

There’s still potential for more achievements/trophies related to content already in the game.

Thank you for the update.

If you make another F2P Puzzle Quest type game in the future I wanted to say I enjoyed the VIP features of GoW much more than this. The mental trigger that any spend provided rewards right away, but also a continual trickle of resources drove me to be more likely to spend than the PQ3 VIP. Even now I am around VIP 7, yet resent having to pay to unlock VIP rewards.

If possible, eliminate the cap on ancient coins in the archive, turn on crafting of seasonal gear and spells. There is plenty of grind available that eliminating these speed bumps will only benefit the players that stay around.

Thanks for the update Jeto.

Since there will no longer be seasons for the devs to focus on, would it be possible for them to review and implement some of our suggestions for KD updates, new adventures that reward yellow scrolls etc.…basically, improved end game content?

I think development for this game is finished.

I agree with the sentiment that we shouldn’t expect entirely new systems at this stage, but that doesn’t mean the game has to remain stagnant. Instead of asking for “new” content, we should push for practical rebalancing of what’s already there.

For instance, the scarcity of Light Scrolls for end-game evolution is a major bottleneck. A realistic solution would be for the devs to simply tweak the rewards of existing Adventures.

Updating the “long route” in Farm Girls Day Out, or adding consistent light scroll rewards to Borderlands Bash, would give veteran players a meaningful reason to keep grinding without requiring the devs to build anything from scratch. These kinds of “maintenance” tweaks are exactly how other long-running titles stay playable even after the main seasonal cycle ends.

Adding light scrolls is something I mentioned elsewhere that I have already raised with the team :sparkles: don’t have an update on that

I have the Gemka adventure that deals with the Light Scroll issue, that I posted on the forums, but I imagine its probably too late for that? But the framework for is basically already all done.

And Now that the seasonal stories have concluded, we need a meaningful way to keep the community engaged while there’s no new story content on the immediate horizon. A great “low-effort, high-impact” addition would be introducing higher difficulty tiers for existing seasonal content and Hunts.

Scaling the difficulty from the current cap up to XII across all archived Season Stories would provide an immediate endgame goal for high-level players. This could also be applied to Hunts, specifically to help farm Blank Chests with slightly better rewards or drop rates. It feels like an easy way to add replayability to the content we already have without requiring entirely new assets or narratives.

I understand no more seasons, but can we have another class, better KD or 200 level past seasons, any thoughts on puzzle quest 4?

Example of the class something we already have in the game.
