Giving Titles to the "Untitled" Seasons: Season 2.0 (The Fallen Star)

The Project:
As many of you know, some of our earlier seasons in Puzzle Quest 3 didn’t get specific story titles for the individual levels. I’ve decided to go through the game, battle by battle, and give them the titles they deserve!

The Plan:
I’ll be posting one Quest every day or so. I’m aiming for titles that are witty, funny, or a bit punny, but I’m open to serious ones if the mood fits. I’d love to hear your thoughts or your own title ideas as we go!

Chapter 1, Quest 1

The Location: Dragons of Light Map (Light Citadel)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Sand Golem
  • Battle 2: Manticore

The Dialogue:
A bright light streaks across the sky and falls off into the distance…
Northhelm: Look! A falling s-star!
Player: Now’s your chance, Northhelm. Make a wish! We’re about to head out.
Northhelm: I w-wish for —
Player: No, no, it’s supposed to be a secret.
Northhelm: Oh. B-but with this wish, I might need your help to make it come t-true.
Player: Ah. Well… I guess it’s okay if we break the rules, just this once. Alright Northelm, what did you wish for?
Northhelm: I… th-think I want to join the D-dragonguard.
Player: Really? That’s exciting. But if that’s the case, I’m not sure I’m the one to ask for help. I sort of… fell into being a knight.
Northhelm: F-fell?
Player: Well, it’s more like I was pushed. Anyway — you should speak to Toragon as we head home, he was the one who got me in, I’m sure he’d do the same for you.

My Chosen Title:

“The Knight Sky”

(Runner up: “Wishful Thinking”. The main title is a double pun that bridges the literal celestial event in the heavens with Northelm’s sudden aspiration to join the Dragonguard. The runner-up captures the wide-eyed optimism of Northelm’s secret wish before the reality of the journey sets in.)

Chapter 1, Quest 2

The Location: Dragons of Light Map (Light Citadel)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Gnoll Scavenger
  • Battle 2: Gnoll Demolitionist

The Dialogue:
Northhelm nervously approaches Toragon, twiddling his thumbs.
Northhelm: Excuse me — Toragon, s-sir?
Toragon: I told you, Northhelm, enough of that ‘sir’ rubbish.
Northhelm: Sorry, s-s-Toragon. But I’ve b-been thinking, and… I want to join the D-dragonguard when we get home.
Toragon: The Dragonguard? What would you want to do that for?
Northhelm: For Brie. Me a-and Brie. Both of us. For… our future. I want us to settle down, so I need a p-proper p-profession. To provide for us.
Toragon: What? Listen! You’re a hero, kid. You’ve risked your life in impossible battles and emerged victorious. You can do better than the Dragonguard.
Northhelm: But, s-sir! I mean, um, Toragon… You’re a Dragonguard yourself!
Toragon: I’m just their armorer, kid. But take some advice — they’re just a bunch of amateurs. You could do way better.
Northhelm: Oh… okay. N-never mind, then… sorry to bother you.

My Chosen Title:

“Gnoll-ledge is Power”

(Runner up: “Career Counseling”. Toragon might be a great armorer, but he’s a bit lacking as a guidance counselor! Between the Gnolls and the harsh life lessons, poor Northhelm is having a rough day.)

Chapter 1, Quest 3

The Location: Desert (Battle 1) / Ruins (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: War Boar
  • Battle 2: Ogre

The Dialogue:
We continued our journey south through the Dragonlands towards the mountains.
Northhelm: sigh
Gemka: What bothers you, child?
Northhelm: Oh, it’s n-nothing. Don’t mind me.
Gemka: Your face is screwed up like a goblin child with gutworms. Now, tell me what’s bothering you!
Northhelm: Oh, um, okay… Gemka, how did you know that you wanted to be a t-tinkerer?
Gemka: It may have had something to do with being given the choice of a life of crafting, or a swift death.
Northhelm: Oh, g-goodness… I’m sorry, Gemka. You’ve been with us for so long that I’d f-forgotten you were imprisoned.
Gemka: Don’t fret, child. Truth be told, even if my hand had not been forced… I suspect I still would have dedicated my life to gemcraft.
Northhelm: So in a way… you got to f-follow your dreams?
Gemka: Dreams are for fools and children. At least… that’s what I used to believe. Now the world may finally be changing, perhaps that’s no longer such a certainty.
Northhelm: Right… f-fools and children…
Gemka: Chin up, young one. Either you will find your purpose, or it will find you. And if all else fails, there’s always that swift death… hehe…

My Chosen Title:

“Boar-ing Life Lessons”

(Runner up: “It’s all Ogre Now”. This title feels right because it references our first opponent, the War Boar, while poking fun at the incredibly “heavy” (and slightly depressing) career advice Gemka is giving poor Northhelm. Between gutworms and swift deaths, Gemka’s version of a pep talk is anything but exciting!)

Chapter 1, Quest 4

The Location: Ruins (Battle 1) / Mountains (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: War Boar
  • Battle 2: Troll

The Dialogue:
Eveline: Toragon, I need to speak with you.
Toragon: Is it about the War Boar we just fought? I was surprised to see one of those outside of Agaria too…
Eveline: It has nothing to do with a War Boar. Now, why did you become an armorer?
Toragon: What? Why do you want to know that?
Eveline: Humor me. Think back to when you were a young man — I know it may be difficult to remember so far in the past…
Toragon: Oh, very funny, Eveline… You know the answer to that. My father had been killed, and I wanted to help my mother and sisters. And fight the good fight.
Eveline: So you saw the role of being an armorer with the Dragonguard as a way to do both those things?
Toragon: At the time it seemed like a good idea. The Dragonguard meant something back then. I bought into it.
Eveline: See? You weren’t always so disillusioned.
Toragon: And that was my first mistake.
Eveline: A mistake that you had the opportunity to make — do you not think you should extend Northelm that same courtesy?
Toragon: Ahh, I should have known. So this is about Northelm. Did he say something to you?
Eveline: I’ve no idea what you’re talking about, I’m simply making an observation. He is young and hopeful, Toragon — don’t let him become old and bitter.

My Chosen Title:

“Troll-ing Toragon”

(Runner up: “Don’t Feed the Troll”. This title works on two levels: we’re facing a literal Troll in the mountains, but Eveline is also doing a fantastic job of “trolling” Toragon about his age and his grumpy attitude toward Northelm’s dreams. She’s basically telling him that being bitter is his own choice!)

Chapter 1, Quest 5

The Location: Mountains (Battle 1) / Ruins (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Hill Giant
  • Battle 2: War Boar

The Dialogue:
Toragon: Northelm — before we cross these damnable mountains, can I have a word?
Northhelm: Of course s-sir!
Toragon: I told you before not to… Ah… Forget about it.
Northhelm: S-sorry. I meant to say ‘Toragon’.
Toragon: No need to be sorry, kid. But you’ll need to save your ‘sirs’ for ingratiating yourself to the Dragonguard.
Northhelm: B-but I’m not joining the Dragonguard. You told me —
Toragon: Aye, I know what I told you. But if you think this is the next step on your path… I’ll put in a good word with the Knight Captain.
Northhelm: Oh — th-that’s… That’s amazing! Thank you! You won’t regret it!
Toragon: I’m not so sure about that, but we’ll see…

My Chosen Title:

“Boar-ing No More”

(Runner up: “A Giant Leap of Faith”. I had to go with the pun here! It’s a callback to our earlier title “Boar-ing Life Lessons.” After fighting several War Boars and listening to endless career advice, the story is finally moving forward. Toragon has finally stopped being “boring” and “bitter” and is actually helping the kid out!)

Chapter 1, Quest 6

The Location: Mountains (Battle 1) / Ruins (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Dragonguard Knight
  • Battle 2: Ogre Mage

The Dialogue:
As was often the case on a long journey, Brie was experimenting with some food…
Northhelm: H-hello Brie! That smells… lovely!
Brie: Northelm! I’m so glad you like it! It’s my latest recipe — ‘Berry Surprise!’ It uses every type of berry from all the trees I’ve picked on our journey.
Northhelm: I like berries!
Brie: Also an egg. Well, two eggs. Two different kinds of eggs. From different animals.
Northhelm: Oh! Which animals?
Brie: I don’t know. That’s the surprise!
Northhelm: Oh… gulps G-great! We can eat some to celebrate my g-good news!
Brie: Ooh, a celebration! What are we celebrating, then?
Northhelm: I’m j-joining the Dragonguard! Toragon has agreed to sponsor me. We’ll travel there as s-soon as we’re able, and I will be a knight!
Brie: Oh! A… umm… house! Wow!
Northhelm: Yes! A h-house! I’ll get us a house, surrounded by pastures, and you can even get some cattle! W-won’t that be great?
Brie: That’s very thoughtful, Northelm! And I’m really happy that you’ve figured out what you want to do next!
Northhelm: Th-thanks, Brie. I just want to make you p-proud. I’m going to go and t-tell the others!
Brie: I’m… sure they’ll all be proud of you…

My Chosen Title:

“A Recipe for Disaster”

(Runner up: “Berry Scary News”. This quest is a double-whammy of danger. First, there’s the ‘Berry Surprise’ which sounds like it might be more lethal than the Ogre Mage we fought. Second, poor Northhelm is planning a house and cattle while Brie looks like she wants to run for the hills. It’s a recipe for disaster in more ways than one!)

Chapter 1, Quest 7

The Location: Forest (Battle 1) / Forest (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Dragonguard Knight
  • Battle 2: War Boar

The Dialogue:
Toragon: That creature we just fought. It looked like one of the damned Dragonguard…
Player: You’re right. But it was strangely… corrupted? Xione? Any idea what it was?
Xione: The first sign of dark magic, and you go straight to the Dark Elf.
Player: Does that mean you don’t know?
Xione: I was paying more attention to our young Cowmaiden here, and her lover.
Brie: What do you mean? Northelm’s a good man!
Xione: I’m sure he’s just fine — that isn’t my concern. I was more fascinated with how humans will compromise anything once their emotions take hold.
Mutiny Vance: Not all of us! Haha! I’ve never let a man — or a woman — get between me and my booty!
Xione: Mutiny. All of your emotions INVOLVE booty. This one — she’s different.
Brie: But I am happy for him! It’s just —
Xione: I see it in your eyes. You had other plans for your future.
Brie: I did think I had a little more time to explore the world. With him, of course, but…
Xione: So tell him.
Brie: sigh I have a lot to think about.
Xione: What a fascinating mess. I’ll enjoy watching it unfold.
Mutiny Vance: How much do you wanna bet they never talk about it?

My Chosen Title:

“Booty and the Beast”

(Runner up: “Boar-derline Personality”. I couldn’t resist this one! Mutiny Vance is clearly only here for the “booty,” while poor Brie is dealing with a “beast” of an internal conflict about her future. Plus, it’s a nice nod to the War Boar that keeps showing up to crash our deep emotional conversations!)

Chapter 1, Quest 8

The Location: Forest (Battle 1) / Fortress (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Pegasus
  • Battle 2: Dragonguard Knight

The Dialogue:
Player: Auri, you’ve been a little quiet since we left the Tree of Light. Are you alright?
Auri: Oh, sorry! It’s just been a lot to take in. Seeing my father like that… well, I never thought I’d have the chance.
Player: How did it feel, seeing him?
Auri: I’m not sure it’s quite sunk in. There are so many questions I wish I could have asked him… about the world, about his adventures, about what he thinks of me…
Player: I’m sure he’s proud of you, Auri.
Auri: Thank you for saying that. I wish I could have asked him more about my mother though.
Player: Your mother?
Auri: I know he suggested that I was to ask her many of these questions, but how am I to do that without her finding out why? Am I really supposed to keep his fate a secret from her? Even if knowing would break her heart?
Player: As the person who knows her best, I think only you can answer that question.
Auri: I suppose you’re right. For now, let’s focus on the task at hand. Let’s get back home, and get Northelm into the Dragonguard. He earned it.

My Chosen Title:

“A Flight of Fancy”

(Runner up: “Mother of All Secrets”. I went with ‘A Flight of Fancy’ because we kick things off with a battle against a Pegasus, but the title also captures Auri’s bittersweet daydreams about all the things she wished she could have discussed with her father. It’s a heavy moment, but at least Northhelm is still focused on his new job!)

Chapter 1, Quest 9

The Location: Fortress (Battle 1) / Fortress (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: War Boar
  • Battle 2: Dragonguard Knight

The Dialogue:
Player: It feels strange, heading back to Agaria and the Dragonguard after everything that’s happened.
Toragon: It IS strange — these corrupted knights we keep finding have me worried. That aside, aren’t you glad you followed my advice and joined all those months ago?
Player: I feel like this is your way of saying ‘I told you so’… But yes. It’s been a wild ride.
Toragon: I’ve gotta say, I haven’t missed taking orders from the Commander. Not sure I’m too excited to see her again.
Player: You don’t have to be excited — Northelm is excited enough for everyone.
Toragon: Aye, he’s certainly got his heart set on signing up. I just hope they give him a chance.
Player: Well, they said yes to me and I didn’t even really want in… surely his enthusiasm has to count for something?
Toragon: Maybe. I’m sure underneath the Knight Commander’s cold metal armor lies something resembling a heart.
Player: And if not, I’ll put my money in Eveline to sort her out.

My Chosen Title:

“Boar-der Crossing”

(Runner up: “Heart of Steel”. We are finally crossing the border back into Agaria, but between the endless War Boars and Toragon’s dread of seeing the Knight Commander again, the mood is anything but celebratory. Let’s hope the Commander has a heart under that armor, or Eveline might have to ‘gem-stone’ her into a better mood!)

Chapter 1, Quest 10

The Location: Dungeon
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: War Boar, The Keykeeper (mini-boss), and The Gatemaster (Boss)

The Pre-Battle Dialogue:
Toragon: Well, this isn’t good. That tower ahead is the first Dragonguard outpost in Agaria. Look what’s around it.
Player: It’s crawling with those corrupted knights. Any idea what’s happening?
Toragon: Your guess is as good as mine, kid — but I doubt it’s good news.
Xione: Well, it wasn’t me.
Player: I’m slightly concerned that you feel you had to say that, Xione, but… ahh… thank you for the confirmation?
Northelm: We could j-just ask them?
Player: At the very least, we should check if the knights IN the tower are safe. Toragon, do you know who’s stationed here?
Toragon: Aye. They have their stupid fancy titles — the Keykeeper and the Gatemaster. On account of this being the ‘gateway’ to Agaria.
Player: Well then. Let’s check on them.

The Post-Battle “Stinger”:
Player: Well… I think we have a new problem. Something is clearly up with the Dragonguard.
Toragon: Ha! Something’s ALWAYS been up with the Dragonguard. This is different though.
Eveline: This is no time for jokes, Toragon. At least everyone here is fine, if a little shaken.
Toragon: Aye, and I think it might be a moment before the Dragonguard have recruitment on their minds, Northelm…
Northelm: I understand, s-sir. But what can we d-do?
Toragon: Ugh. Part of me wants to say just let them be…
Eveline: Toragon…
Toragon: sigh But another part of me is fairly certain there’s a very dangerous journey coming up…

Official Title:

“Gatemaster’s Keep”

My Proposed Title:

“Key to the City”

(Runner up: “Gate-crashing”. This level marks the end of Chapter 1! While the game actually gave us a title here, I thought ‘Key to the City’ was a fun nod to the bosses we had to go through to get into Agaria. We’ve officially finished the journey home—only to find the front door is guarded by corrupted knights and Xione is already pleading the fifth. It looks like Northhelm’s career plans are on ice until we survive the “dangerous journey” ahead!)

Chapter 2, Part 1 (Quest 11)

The Location: Fortress (Battle 1) / Forest (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: War Boar
  • Battle 2: Dragonguard Knight

The Dialogue:
Player: So… It’s safe to say the Dragonguard have been compromised. What’s our plan of attack?
Eveline: I’d suggest a plan where we DON’T attack. They may be our foes for now, but let’s not forget — some of us count many of the Dragonguard as friends.
Toragon: Agreed. Though ‘friends’ might be a little strong, it’s not like I ever thought of them as enemies… just idiots.
Elyra: Not to be alarmist, but are we even certain this problem is limited to the Dragonguard?
Auri: Why would everyone in Agaria suddenly turn against us?
Mutiny Vance: I can think of a few reasons. Or maybe it’s just me that has some experience in that area?
Eveline: Well, I suspect we won’t find anyone to answer our questions here. For now, let us take our leave from Agaria. We can return once we know more.

My Proposed Title:

“Agaria-vating Circumstances”

(Runner up: “Friends Like These”. As the team decides to turn tail and flee Agaria, the frustration is high. Between the “corrupted” Dragonguard and Mutiny Vance’s checkered past, it’s getting hard to tell who is actually on our side. It’s a truly Agaria-vating start to Chapter 2!)

Chapter 2, Part 2 (Quest 12)

The Location: Forest (Battle 1) / Oak Forest Warm (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Dragonguard Champion
  • Battle 2: Wyvern

The Dialogue:
Darkhunter: They’re chasing us, but we seem to be safe for now.
Player: This is difficult. It’s one thing to face trouble in a far off land. It’s another to face trouble at home. I wish this were easier.
Northelm: M-maybe we’ll see another s-star, and we can make th-that wish.
Auri: Another star? What do you mean? When did you see the first star?
Northelm: Just b-before we started back to Agaria, when I first decided I wanted to j-join the Dragonguard. I wished I was strong enough to f-fight with them…
Mutiny Vance: snort Well, you sure are fighting with them now!
Auri: Mutiny! No, Northelm, I’m sure your wish didn’t do this. But… I am curious about that star. Do you remember where it fell?
Northelm: It was sh-shooting through the sky, towards the mountains.
Adhakus: Aye. I saw it too. Streaking towards the Barad Dumyr.
Auri: The Barad Dumyr… I have a strange feeling we should follow it there.
Eveline: I suspect you may be right, Auri.
Player: To the Barad Dumyr it is!

My Proposed Title:

“Star-Crossed Career”

(Runner up: “Be Careful What You Wish For”. This quest is the perfect example of “monkey’s paw” irony. Northelm wished to be strong enough to fight with the Dragonguard, and thanks to the corruption, he’s doing exactly that—just not in the way he intended! We’ve traded the corrupted knights for a Wyvern, and our next stop is Barad Dumyr to see if we can find the ‘star’ that started this whole mess.)

Chapter 2, Part 3 (Quest 13)

The Location: Oak Forest Day (Battle 1) / Oak Forest Night (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Dragonguard Champion
  • Battle 2: Dragonguard Knight (Sir Ogmar)

The Dialogue:
Toragon: That… That large knight we just fought. That was Sir Ogmar!
Auri: Toragon… I’m sorry. Was he a… friend of yours?
Toragon: No. He was a complete pompous buffoon. But… But still…
Auri: I know. I understand.
Toragon: Really? How can a girl like you understand what it’s like to have people you’ve known — depended on — for years suddenly turn against you?
Auri: Toragon… I…
Toragon: Oh, no… Auri… I… That’s EXACTLY what’s it’s been like for you hasn’t it? First the Dragons. Then your mother. Then… me?
Toragon: Child, I am SO sorry. I was trying to help you, but I… I never thought about all those other things you were going through… I’m ashamed.
Auri: Toragon… We can all get tunnel vision from time to time.

My Proposed Title:

“Sir-ly Apologetic”

(Runner up: “Tunnel Vision”. I had to go with this title because it fits the gameplay and the story perfectly. We’re literally fighting two “Sirs” back-to-back in these forest battles, but the real story is Toragon’s surly shell finally cracking. It’s rare to see him this apologetic, especially after realizing he’s been blind to Auri’s own history of being betrayed by those she depends on.)

Chapter 2, Part 4 (Quest 14)

The Location: Oak Forest Night (Battle 1) / Oak Forest Day (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Ettin
  • Battle 2: Dragonguard Champion

The Dialogue:
Adhakus: Been awhile since I’ve spent some time up in the peaks - s-almost comfortin’ to see there are plenty o’ ogres rumblin’ about.
Player: You’ve mentioned your people wandering the mountains before - is it nice being back in familiar territory?
Adhakus: Aye… It’s good to feel the cracked stone under me feet, but I’ve seen a little more sunlight lately than I care fer. I’m starting’ to worry me eyes won’t know what to do with the darkness o’ the mines when I return.
Auri: They’ll know, Adhakus. I don’t think the feeling of being at home ever really leaves us - no matter how far we stray.
Mutiny Vance: Maybe Adhakus is onto something. What if I get back to the ocean, and I don’t know how to swim? How will I make that quick getaway off a pier?
Xione: Don’t be so dramatic. I’ve seen you hold your breath for 5 minutes.
Mutiny Vance: Hey! It’s me we’re talking about here! My life might be on the line. Player: Look, I’m sure you’ll all get to see your home again soon - if that’s what you want.
Adhakus: Aye. Soon.
Mutiny Vance: Hmm, maybe… Ask me again tomorrow.

My Proposed Title:

“Two Heads, One Problem”

(Runner up: “Mine Your Business”. The main title is a direct jab at the Ettin battle, but it also highlights the party’s own issues—they have enough internal “heads” and conflicting feelings about home to deal with without the monsters adding to it. I chose the runner-up because it’s a perfect pun for Adhakus; between his nostalgia for the mines and his grumpy desire to avoid Xione and Mutiny’s prying, he’d definitely tell everyone to just “mine” their business!)

Chapter 2, Part 5 (Quest 15)

The Location: Mountains (Battle 1) / Mountains (Battle 2)
The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Dragonguard Captain
  • Battle 2: Salamander

The Dialogue:
Mutiny Vance: EVERYONE, STOP!
Northelm: Wh-what’s wrong? Is it the Dragonguard a-again?
Elyra: I smell something strange…
Xione: We have an ogre with us. I always smell something strange…
Gong: GONG HAS HEALTHY MUSK. GONG SMELL LIKE STRONG FLOWER.
Mutiny Vance: Live your best life, Gong. But no, you’re all wrong! I sense… BOOTY!
Player: Mutiny’s right - it looks like someone left this camp in a hurry.
Elyra: But they left all their belongings behind - they must have been in a hurry.
Mutiny Vance: Who cares why they left it here - all that matter is they left it!
Northelm: Wh-what if it belongs to the knights we just met, and they come after us l-looking for revenge?
Mutiny Vance: Hey, THEY started it. You’ve gotta get your booty while its on the table.

My Proposed Title:

“A Whiff of Booty”

(Runner up: “Booty on the Table”. This title is the perfect bridge between Elyra and Xione complaining about the smell (Gong’s “healthy musk”) and Mutiny’s supernatural ability to sniff out treasure. It captures the transition from a strange odor to a golden opportunity, showing that even in a dangerous mountain pass, Mutiny never loses her pirate instincts.)

Chapter 2, Part 6 (Quest 16)

The Location: Ruins Day (Battle 1) / Ruins Night (Battle 2)

The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Dragonguard Knight
  • Battle 2: War Boar

The Dialogue:

Toragon: So now we’ve got MORE Dragonguard on our tail. Things just keep getting better and better…

Jocea: Do you think they’re friends with the war boars we’ve been seeing?

Toragon: Aye. Some of the knights kept boars. Their noses are as keen as a hound. They’re loyal too - will follow you round like a pup once they know you.

Brie: That makes sense. When my cows came into battle with me, they never strayed far.

Jocea: Your cows went into battle with you?!

Brie: Oh, yes! In Theira we ride them. And nobody ever sees us as a threat… until they’re trampled by our hooves.

Jocea: That sounds… rather violent.

Brie: Well, they never underestimate us twice!

Jocea: You and your cows must have been so brave. Do you ever miss them?

Brie: Every day. But the memories always makes me smile - thanks for reminding me of that, Jocea. That was just the boost I needed!

My Proposed Title:

“Brie’s Secret Mooo-ves”

(Runner up: “Mess With the Cow…”. The main title is pure PQ3 vibes, leaning into the humor of Brie’s combat-cows from Theira. I went with the runner-up as a shorter, punchier version of the phrase “…get the horns,” which perfectly frames the Dragonguard Knight as the one about to be trampled for underestimating our brave little farm-hand.)

Chapter 2, Part 7 (Quest 17)

The Location: Forest Day (Battle 1) / Forest Day (Battle 2)

The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Dragonguard Champion
  • Battle 2: Cave Worm

The Dialogue:

Darkhunter: Have you noticed what’s up ahead?

Player: My eyes aren’t as good as yours, Darkhunter.

Darkhunter: Each night, there’s a faint glow in the north eastern sky. And every night it’s just a little bit stronger.

Player: Seems like we might be heading in the right direction then?

Darkhunter: If you like walking into trouble, sure.

Player: I heard some of the group talking about home the other day… Any regrets about joining us? Do you need to head back to Ehlariel?

Darkhunter: Ehlariel wasn’t my home. I haven’t had a home for over five hundred years…

Player: Sorry, Darkhunter. I didn’t mean to pry.

Darkhunter: I know. I gave up thoughts of a home after… well… it was a long time ago. These days I’m happy as long as I have a mission.

My Proposed Title:

“No Place Like Mission”

(Runner up: “Home is Where the Hurt Is”. The main title is a play on the phrase “No place like home,” which Darkhunter has essentially rejected in favor of his work. While the rest of the crew is feeling homesick, he remains the mission-focused anchor of the group. The runner-up touches on the darker side of his dialogue, implying that for someone as old as Darkhunter, “home” might just be a reminder of what he lost centuries ago.)

Chapter 2, Part 8 (Quest 18)

The Location: Mountain (Battle 1) / Mountain (Battle 2)

The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Imp
  • Battle 2: Dragonguard Champion

The Dialogue:

Player: I thought we’d have put some distance between us and the knights by now, but the attacks keep coming faster and faster.

Toragon: I didn’t like most of them when they weren’t infected with something, but still… It’s a grim prospect if we HAVE to keep fighting them.

Auri: Surely we can find a solution - I can feel us getting close to where the star fell, and I still believe it may hold the answers we seek.

Player: Darkhunter has us following a light in the night sky - he thinks it may be the case too.

Elyra: And if it isn’t? What do we do then?

Brie: You don’t think that whatever is affecting the Dragonguard could come for us… could it?

Player: If it does, we’ll face the challenge together.

Elyra: What if it turns us against each other, and we’re forced to battle to the death?

Gong: THEN GONG WILL SING A GREAT SONG OF BATTLE!

Player: Gong. Please, no!

Gong: I HAVE A CLUUUUB! AND A CHEEEESE BLOCK! AND A CAAAAT! WITH JUST THREE LEEEEGS! AND I CAN KIIIILL YOU! WITH ALLLLLL OF THEM!

Xione: I feel the darkness is already taking hold. I have the urge to turn against one of our own as we speak…

My Proposed Title:

“A Yard of Fury”

(Runner up: “Leaning on Three Legs”. The main title is a measurement pun—since Gong’s cat has three feet, it equals exactly one yard! It contrasts the high-stakes “fury” of the Dragonguard threat with the literal length of Gong’s absurd “weapon.” The runner-up captures the irony of the scene: the party is discussing “leaning” on each other to survive, but the stability of the team feels as shaky and ridiculous as a three-legged animal.)

Chapter 2, Part 9 (Quest 19)

The Location: Ruins (Battle 1) / Lava Lake/Volcano (Battle 2)

The Enemies:

  • Battle 1: Dragonguard Knight
  • Battle 2: Fire Giant

The Dialogue:

Adhakus: I don’t think it was just ONE star fallen here… These mountains have changed.

Player: Have you seen a fallen star before?

Adhakus: Aye! We prize ‘em for the metals in their core. But normally it’s one star, one crater, one lump o’ iron, and that’s that.

Player: Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Elyra: Not since we looked upon the ruins of Lunariel…

Player: This couldn’t be Dragons though, could it?

Auri: No! I refuse to believe my people would do this…

Player: Then we have a mystery to solve. Lets push on.

My Proposed Title:

“I Lava Good Mystery”

(Runner up: “Giant Headache”. The main title is the perfect pun to bridge the gap between the investigation in the ruins and the sudden shift to the volcanic environment. The runner-up is a double entendre: it refers to the literal massive Fire Giant waiting at the end of the path, and the growing intellectual “headache” the team faces as they realize this isn’t a normal meteorite crash.)
