Hi. I wanted to ask the devs something that has generated a small conflict in the game chat.
Since I started playing the game, the 001 channel has always been a place where kingdom leaders advertised their kingdoms looking for recruits and where players asked for active kingdoms. Many players have managed to find their kingdom and many kingdoms have been able to keep full that way.
It is true that this means that sometimes the global chat becomes filled with the repeating kingdom recruitment posts. However, we have no other in-game way of advertising kingdoms or looking for kingdoms who are recruiting and the 001 channel is by far the most active. I believe that with time most players have just gotten used to the frequent recruitment post and just ignore them.
However, a couple of days ago a player started to strongly complain about recruitment posts, calling them spam and saying that we should post them in other channels. They complained about lengthy advertising posts, about “walls of colored text” and recruitment posts between symbols, clearly pointing towards more elaborated posts designed to be flashy (but also meaning they are more easily identified as kingdom advertising and can therefore be ignored more easily). The player even threatened with reporting them.
We have tried to argue that posting them in other channels would mean nobody reads them, so it is not a solution. We have also pointed out that it has been something that has always been done, and the only way to succesfully advertise kingdoms. We have also tried to make them understand that a simple solution is to just ignore them or even block the player’s chat messages to not see it if it is really so annoying for them.
However, the question is there: is kingdom advertising in the global chat considered spam? I want to ask here so that we can get an official answer that solves the conflict. I strongly believe that it is not, otherwise I don’t know how we will be able to keep our kingdoms full and active without any reliable means of advertising within the game. But in case it is indeed considered spam it would be useful to know so that we stop doing it.
Thank you very much for your help.
