Update 3.3 Patch Notes

Minion Rests - they can still be skipped in the Tavern.

If minion was resting after opening a chest, it would show the “Complete Rest” button instead of “Equip”

New Prologue

Summary

Lord Bane-specific model is on the way! We are using an existing enemy model in the meantime (second opponent).

This is all a fantastic move forward with the achievability of previously tough parts of the game, thank you Jeto and the devs!

But.

Please consider revising some parts of the game to allow more than 80% crit chance! I appreciate the requirement for it in PVP to help what has been an eternal struggle in that part of the game.

But.

When I’m playing all I want to do as a long, long, long time player who actively invests in the game is min max and feel ultimately powerful by investing in ALL allowable stats. The glass ceiling created by this 80% business is slowly eroding my enjoyment of PQ3. Honestly.

What I mean is, some people are buying the 800-gem cache in order to get more marks, but some of us are playing to win more gems from the leaderboard.

The trouble with this is that the people buying the 800 cache are naturally higher up the leaderboard, meaning that those of us playing for the gems lose out (as spending 1,700 gems to win 1,000 gems makes no sense).

The logic behind that decision is that the net cost of purchasing the very large amount of diamond marks that come with a Tier IV purchase is only 700 and not 1,700 Gems, a ~59% discount. Of course, that comes with the risky proposition that the player must place/tie first in the bracket to achieve that outcome. The sheer number of extra runs a Tier IV player has will always guarantee a win over a Tier III player under normal gameplay conditions.

The primary concern after the change is that placing in the top positions is now going to be impossible outside of the top 1% of players in the game under the new system because the bar for maximum possible points to ensure top placement is going to require perfect runs against level 120-140+ opponents over the course of the event. I’m skeptical over how feasible attempting these runs is even going to be.

On that note, way back in the day, I used to be a very committed Event player. Over time, I realized that it was actually more productive to buy the main Event prizes from the Event shop directly from normal game shops or obtain them from other in-game processes, instead of chasing Event Leaderboards for the mythical diamond mark purchase discount. So, I stopped playing Events altogether and to this date I have never second-guessed my decision to do at all.

So, now, I am looking at these changes and asking myself “Should I care again about Events?” After pondering the question all week, I can’t say with any confidence that the answer is “yes”, when that is what my answer should be. I want to fight the new opponents to test out my gear, as level 100 things are defeated too easily. But, beyond that, my gut feeling tells me “meh?”. The reward list definitely looks better. But at the same time, there isn’t anything on the reward list that can’t be obtained elsewhere in the game currently. That’s strike one.

Ok. So, the next consideration would then be, if there’s nothing unique to the mode, does playing the mode obtain the things I want from the game significantly more efficiently than normal game processes do now? I currently don’t know, and am personally skeptical and dubious towards the situation. A 5-10% minor efficiency improvement is not going to cut the mustard here. All the good things are generally throttled by diamond marks (just as before), which is going to limit obtaining those good things through simply sheer numbers of Event tiers purchased. At the end of the day, that’s just a disguise for selling things directly from normal shops through the middleperson of diamond marks to obfuscate the actual sales transaction through the Event shop. And if that’s the case, then I’d rather just buy the things I want from the normal shops in which they appear and cut out the middleperson directly, which is why I stopped playing Events in the first place. That’s likely strike two.

So, that’s where my mind is currently. On one hand, I want to try out the new Event system and will give it at least a couple courtesy tries before I make a final decision on whether to commit to regularly playing the new system. At the same time, I feel like one of my feet is already outside the exit door of Event mode again, just waiting to be disappointed and pat myself on the back for self-confirmed confirmation bias. Dunno, we’ll see.

Side thought: also presuming that boss rush mode will also feature purchasable energy tiers. That would make purchasing Tier IV in both events 3,400 gems when they are up. Yeah, I’m not exactly generating warm and fuzzy feelings over this. :frowning:

One week, two tops, before I write the revamp off. I want to be hopeful, but I’m expecting epic disappointment.

Though I am replying to Lyrian, my question can only be answered by @Jeto . I am under the impression that the new dungeon Events, tier 12, shall start at a100 level enemy and end at 120. Or will it be starting at 120 upto 140 ?

And another question is on the Boss Rush new event. Can we have an idea of the level of the Epic Bosses and whether they will have special ‘powers’ like the KD dragons ?

Back to Lyrian. With these new events, PQ3 is getting some end game content after all these years, right. So let’s have some positive thoughts for now, lol.

Yeah, that post was a bit harsh, though openly honest. Darn my cynical brain, sometimes.

I want to believe in the Event revamp, though. I really, really do.

@jose Tier XII (12) enemies are level 120 enemies.

The Boss Rush enemies will be the level you set as your Tier, so Tier XII, will start at level 120 Boss Rush opponents.
After each victory in Boss Rush, the opponent level also still increases at Tier XII. So if you manage to defeat a level 120 Boss Rush battle, it will be a level 124 battle next time, and so on.
It will cap at lvl 200 enemies though.

This update is just days away, so that’s about as much as I want to share in advance.

@Jeto will the update drop this week or the week after when the new season starts?

The update is always before the Season in recent times.

I’m looking forward to it and all the changes. Seems like it’s going to be one of the better ones.
Thanks.

Just curious, but is the new Event starting tomorrow after the patch drops? And if so, will it create any problems or issues since the new 3 day event started tonight or does it even matter?

The Dungeon event will end and the new Dungeons will begin after it, as well as the first Boss Rush event.

Well, today is the day, 3.3 is on the way in a couple of hours!

lotr-theoden
I had a LOT of good Theoden gifs that would have worked here

Time to tap the sign.

Reminder: If someone in your Kingdom updates before you, you will be locked out of the Kingdom. This is not a bug.

Furthermore! It will take some time for the update to roll out to all platforms and all devices. So if you don’t see it available straight away, please give it some time. It can take at least an hour in some cases.

ALSO! The new Events do not start till the 3rd!

PS just in case! Had tickets from 2 players with Iron chests giving RE errors, if you get the same, please submit a ticket today instead of creating a new thread. I can add you to the players I’m already investigating.
