I’m running the Guard’s Gloves at mythic, and although I keep making matches of 5, I can’t get my crit chance up past 80% (with Merc). We almost didn’t beat our XX dragon.
If they are going to make changes like this in the future and permanent, then I am very glad this was released as a stealth test “bug” before I start crafting gear with the Follower rework.
Once I start crafting my end game set, a major change to combat like this would have me livid.
I doubt very much that this is intentional; there’s no reason to make our builds less optimal.
Exactly! Most of the bugs lately feel as it they are, “let’s see if they notice”.
I spent the last month spending gems, upgrading gear specifically for builds at the end game. Now, if this change stays, time and money was wasted.
It would only be intentional if the goal was to make the builds less optimal so players need to spend more to make other builds.
It is not in the patch notes, so it should be treated as a bug and remedied.
Going forward I think an 80% crit cap is a bad thing for the game, without other major tweaks to the damage equation.
There are many encounters that enemies have been tuned around the current damage output. (see the thread about enemy spell damage).
Our PvE opponents already exceed the 80% block chance cap at the highest levels, to the point that you can expect any un-stunned opponent to block.
Lastly, there is a history of bugs that the dev team has created with respect to properly applying bonuses: (i.e. warlock ultimate bug, wither stacking, power increasing spell multiplier, etc.). So, I am selfishly hoping we maintain 100%+ crit chance as an option so I do not have to do all of the math to validate every patch whether or not something got messed up, or if the game is intentionally breaking its own rules. If I have a crit chance of 100% or greater and I don’t crit then I know there is a bug. If it is 80% capped I have to keep track to make sure there is no bad math happening. I really don’t like being an unpaid QA tester every patch.
Following up again today
