Dungeons - Altar of Healing

What is the logic behind having the Altar of Healing provide healing instead of a “Gain” boost to vitality?
(Sure, it’s fully aligned with the name, but that could just as easily be Altar of Health or Altar of Vitality)

Altar of Protection provides Gain Armor and Resistance - so you can increase your stats beyond their staring values

But with Altar of Healing seems unnecessarily restrictive

  1. I can only get a benefit IF I am not a maximum vitality
  2. And even then the benefit is limited by both the healing amount AND how much damage I have actually taken

I’m curious to understand why it’s setup this way

I’ve always wondered about this but never thought to ask.
I would much prefer it if it behaved similar to the Altar of Protection

a gain of vitality would be much better than a simple boost of healing

like the other altars of weapon and armor .
