What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened
I have a yellow Elven Bow (or Warlords battle-axe) that does bonus Light damage. I also have 4 pieces of the Diraqine set for the Diraqine II bonus, which grants heal when light damage is done. When my melee attacks hit, which have a Light damage part, there is no healing granted. I expect there to be healing from that bonus light damage. When I use a yellow damaging spell, I do receive healing as expected.
I initially reported this to the team as a bug as a precaution while I waited to hear back from them.
We are going to change the wording on the Bow and/or a help tip in the game. Something like “Bonus instances of damage from Items, don’t trigger other item abilities”
It cannot trigger a further healing bonus from an items ability as that can cause it to trigger indefinitely.
So currently, it is intentional that bonus damage will not also apply a heal in this case.
There is no chance of a potential loop (unless I am missing something). The bow/axe only do non-color skull damage, so no heal on the base damage. The effect of each weapon does do color specific damage that should trigger the Diraqine II bonus.
It would not be a “further healing” since the weapon does not generate a heal. There would be only 1 discrete heal from the bonus ‘color’ damage during the melee combat portion of the turn.
I am confused at how this is not a bug AND by the proposed “solution”.
Are all of these “broken” as well?
Lightbringer II
When dealing Light damage, there is a 5/6/7/8/9/10% chance to apply Blind for 2 turns
Necrotic II
When dealing Dark damage there is a 5/6/7/8/9/10% chance to inflict Terror upon the enemy for 2 turns
Trarg II
When dealing Ice Damage, there is a 25/30/35/40/45/50% chance to reduce the enemy’s speed by 25 for 4 turns. If their speed is already 0, gain 10 speed instead
Diraqine II
When dealing Light Damage, Heal for 0.33/0.66/1.00/1.33/1.66/2.00% of the damage done.
This is still with the team as a bug report, so potentially in future they can look at reworking the bonus damage functionality.
Overall, not having it trigger on abilities is to prevent any potential issues that would then cause game crashing. Currently it just affects the 2 items, the axe and bow.
Again, I have left this with the team to look into in future.
