I have tried variable fps off and on and turning phones refresh rate to 60 and 120Hz and always the same problem. Also the other in game settings make no difference. This app is killing my battery
For frequent and long-term players (like me), if something doesn’t happen quickly, the game will become unplayable as the smartphone melts into butter in your hand.
I have definitely cut back a lot of my playtime since the update, I’m not killing my phone on this game
2.2 didn’t fix this
Me too. I started playing less especially when I’m waiting for phone calls because it gets so hot and unusable.
what’s more no point to buy the VIP pass if you can’t play then
I just wanted to put this here as an FYI for people.
I am using and Android phone ( Oneplus nord 2 5g running android 13 ) and because the overheating was really annoying me as a hail mary I tried removing puzzle quest 3 from my games app on the phone. This app came with the phone and automatically adds games to it when you install them. It adds a pull down menu from the corner when enabled allowing you to select performance mode, low power mode, see the frame rate, screen record, etc. I did have mine set to low power mode.
In any case removing puzzle quest 3 from the list of games that would work with this app has resulted in a reduced hourly power usage. Puzzle quest 3 still uses way too much power and does make my phone warm regardless but looking at the % used per hour there is a difference depending if the gaming app is enabled or not.
N.B. I haven’t done a comparison test with another game and the gaming app and don’t intend to.
I know this has been reported, and the topic is pretty old, but what the actual heck are you guys trying to make this program do? decode encryption? mining crypto in the background?
I just installed this on my gaming laptop with steam, fired it up and within a minute or two everything is hot to the touch and the fans are screaming. This is with all graphic settings turned to the lowest settings.
I don’t understand what is so demanding in this program. Clearly neither do you guys.
On Android and iOS devices it causes overheating and extremely fast battery drain. On a dedicated gaming GPU system it causes fans to spin up to a ridiculous level. Higher than any other game I play.
You really need to get some eyes on this and get this under control.
Definitely this overheating issue need to be addressed urgently. On my Android phone and laptop too, the game does drain the battery too much.
It is even more disturbing that there has not been any communication from your side on this issue for a long time now.
Just my two penneth. I don’t have a problem on PS5, but my PS4 Pro sounds like a jet engine playing PQ3, even on the menus.
I have tried switching between performance and fidelity modes, and turned Supersampling off, but it makes no difference.
It would be nice to get an update on this.
Hey thanks for letting us know you’re still having issues with performance and which devices you’re using!
@00h00m which gaming laptop do you have?
Because you mentioned the fans ramping up after just a minute or 2 - was there a specific game mode you were playing or was this happening when you were clicking through a specific menu for example?
We have a developer who has been working on optimisation each update.
I’ve passed what you folks have said here onto him.
We also have what we call the test wall - we have PQ3 running 24/7 on a gajillion devices on a table/against a wall in the office - honestly, it’s probably a fire hazard
So we’re definitely aware of the issue and continuing to run testing and work on it!
Thanks so much for your patience and input while we keep at it!
It’s a 3050ti, nothing special, but it should be more than enough to handle this game.
There is no game mode settings in place on the laptop, so it is just default resource management, especially with all of the settings turned to the lowest options.
Which screen were you on when the fans started ramping up?
Were you just clicking through a specific menu? Or were you ie. playing PVP or the season battles or in a dialogue for example?
(same question to everyone who is having the issue who posted recently here as well)
Also, do your fans spin like crazy when playing any other games at all?
As long as I have the game open on my iPhone or iPad the battery gets hot since whenever this problem started occurring. Playing for half an hour can consume at least 20% of the battery.
This happens everywhere in the app. Even just idling in the menus gets my phone hot.
How has this not been resolved… all I read was promises for the last two years and no resolution… are you guys using our phones to bitcoin mine?
I’ve been following up on this with the team again, so apologies if I reask some questions that have already been addressed - want to make sure I’m getting the most up-to-date information I can.
If you are still experiencing this, on your iOS (or mobile device generally) can you let me know:
- Your current in-game display settings, screenshot preferable
I have reshared the ones already in this thread but want to give updated information
-
The device you play on
-
Are you running the latest OS on your device
We had made some changes over time since this thread was last active
