Hello all!
When in PVP, I plan my attacks based on what damage I’m lining up.
When a spell says it will do 11000 damage but hits only 6000, which is what most my spells now do, is that because of the minions?
9 out of 10 casts are only hitting for roughly 50% making my matches very long or making strategy useless.
The damage of your spells will be mainly modified by the following factors:
- Mastery. The opponent’s minions reduce your mastery, so you should be seeing some damage decrease there. However, mastery increases also affect, the reason why if you have more of 1 spell of a color their damage will increase during battle (compared to the damage stated in the main gear screen) due to the mastery bonus (for example, 4 spells of same color give a +70% mastery bonus during battles).
- Power. Power growing items/spells and heroic effort will increase spell damage. Power decreasing effects aren’t common but they would make your spells weaker.
- Elemental damage and resistance attributes and effects. If you are using a spell that does elemental damage, it will be boosted by attributes increasing that element’s damage but if your opponent has resistance to that element then you will do less damage.
50% reduction is a lot, and without seeing the opponent loadout it is difficult to exactly say what is the reason. But my guess is that it is a mix of the opponent’s minion’s effect with resistance to the spells’ element. Is your issue happening in the dark tourney with dark spells? A common gear item to use in dark tourneys is the night cloak that boosts dark resistance a lot, so it would explain such a big reduction in your spell damage.

Thanks Higgy!
It was happening in the Tourney of Fire this week.
I haven’t noticed a big change like this prior. So this much made me confused.
