How do you get enough aether to actually make the forge/craft system worthwhile? Finally save up 500 to make a mythic shield only to have it be worse than the legendary I’m trying to replace. Wasted all of the crafting materials for nothing.
It is true that the quality you get is random and most times low. But in the end, I see crafting as a way to get mythics without having to rely on the chest lottery, which gives better quality mythics at high levels but can take a huge effort and long time. Also, remember that being mythic means better ability and set bonus, so it may be worth it even with a low quality.
In my opinion, having the ability to craft specific mythic gear is important for more casual players. In my second account I am happy to use several low quality crafted mythics, since I am not willing to farm for better quality version. Getting lowest quality crafts is frustrating, indeed, but I don’t believe that crafting is a waste at all.
I like the crafting. My point is the inability to get the aether at a high enough amount to even make it worthwhile. In that sense, crafting is worthless, because you can’t actually utilize it - no casual player will be able to farm for the 500 needed in the crap shoot.
My legendary shield is still higher than the mythic, so I completed wasted days of gathering the materials.
Do you do events? Since the recent event rework, you can buy aether with ruby marks in the event shop. That should help
Yes, but it is still prohibitive. I snap it and the glyphs up when I can.
I have a companion giving out spell dust that I never use - maybe a companion could give out aether instead. Lord knows I don’t need 33,000+ spell dust.
You have discovered the fact that crafting Mythics is a poor use of Aether and frequently creates a below-average gear score item.
You should try farming your mythics from the highest level chests you can manage. The new events at level 12 can drop some very high GS items. Farming high level chest will also generate Aether from all of the epic and below items you will salvage.
There are no real shortcuts to the farming process. It is a grind.
Once you have a good “candidate” mythic, then it is time to reforge, refine, and hone. The process is very complex to get your “perfect” item at the lowest cost, so it would be wise to plan out your update path prior to starting.
I’m constantly using spell dust to upgrade my spells - most of the stuff I craft I use for steadily upgrading existing pieces or swapping attributes - All these things make game easier and faster.
