Are we getting upgrading Legendaries to mythics back?
I find the game very stale now. Before I could put in the effort and make progress on my build. Since the change I have not gotten 1 mythic to upgrade my build in 3 months. Diamond chests are not giving gear often. If I do get it, it’s common or rare at level 100.
Yes I have been farming the dungeon to try and get mythic drops. It’s rare to get gear now.
I fell the game is not worth playing anymore if we do not get the upgrade path back.
We do have the ability to evolve legendaries to mythic: refine rarity. It does require having lvl 50 crafters, true. However, we also have an alternative option to get the mythics we want without requiring max lvl followers: crafting.
In my second account, started after the 3.0 rework, only 3 of my gear pieces are mythics dropped from chests. Other 3 are mythics obtained by refining legendary pieces and 4 are crafted mythics. So it is possible to end up with a full mythic build even without chest drops.
Thank you for the info. I am not sure why that is not a level 45 feature vs 50. It’s not simple to get 3 followers for the gear to level 50. It used to be not dependent on any follower. Odd change.
I guess it is probably so that the main way to get mythic gear at early and mid game is through crafting, which is limited by aether, leaving evolving gear as an extra for late game. Personally I prefer crafting since you have more chances of getting better quality gear, but at the moment seasonal gear cannot be crafted so for it refine rarity is the only way apart from chest drops.
I say the game is in a worse state after the changes for normal players. Put in the time, you would be able to take gear from common to mythic. Making it an end game level 50 feature was not good.
Game rewards players for grinding, more than it ever has before. New players have gear caches that give them access to low level mythics, much sooner than they would have ever had a chance of getting before. New seasons give you a legendary and a mythic of your choice for platinum pass. Battle Pass gives you a mythic. We’re getting merchant offers now for essentially free mythics, glyphs, etc. Ancient Coins have been doubled each week with mythics added to the caches (that anyone can get regardless of level) and best of all, seasons can be farmed in party. Prior to 3.0 you were basically forced to upgrade one loadout for Kingdom Defense and a couple of spells and that was it. Trying to upgrade risky sets like Diraquine, could result you losing months of progress. Now its relatively simply to upgrade any gear set (except for cache sets which take a bit more time and work) and spells of your choice. Game is in a really good spot right now, IMO.
Edit - Oh and don’t forget the festivals. You get a ton of free goodies in each one. Cosmetics like skins and chat portraits or if you prefer more nitty gritty stuff like mythics and glyphs.
You are talking PAID players. For non plat plus, it sucks. We lost progress. So if you want people to quit, so be it. Diamond chests rewards are a joke at level 100.
This is a typical reward.
We want mythic gear. Not scrolls, spells, minions, shards, gold, etc. 2 seasons and 1 mythic drop and a level 50 plus 117. No upgrades. This is playing daily.
I agree with Kenpo, I also believe the game is in a much better state for both paying and F2P players after the changes from last year.
There have been a lot of great and objective improvements to the game. Some of these are straight and objective improvements since it is just the addition of something that didn’t exist before. Period.
Seasonal mythic relics available in archive rewards. Previously getting seasonal mythic relics was a nightmare, I remember farming non stop for 3 months in order to be able to get the 8 relics needed to evolve 2 pieces to mythics. Nowadays it would only take 2 months of just buying them weekly, with no farming required. And if I decide to farm for the same amount of time and effort, I will get dozens of mythic pieces (maybe not the ones I want it though, if I am unlucky).
Follower crystal exchange with Eveline: previously, once some followers reached lvl 50 getting further crystals was worthless, but now we can use them to get other crystals we need.
New replayable adventures: the now replayable gong’s sushi surprise and expedition adventures give heavy grinders a huge boost in resources.
Event rework: they now give much more and better rewards.
Holiday events and festivals: a new feature giving extra rewards.
Recent high value flash offers: in the past weeks we are getting highly valuable offers, such as mythic gear and glyphs for just shards.
Regarding the changes in the game mechanic brought by the spell and gear rework, the “improvements” are more debatable since it can depend on what each player likes and wants, and there have been some clear downgrades too. But in my opinion, taking everything into account the game has still become better for players ready to grind due to these changes:
We have gotten “free” extra power for our builds: ancient mythic spells have given us an extra power level for our spells and the quality and honing system have given us much potential power level for our gear (as a quick example, max weapon damage pre 3.0 was around 6,500 but post 3.0 it can go as high as 10,000).
Grinding is much more rewarding than ever: I aggre with Kenpo here too. Previously grinding was nearly worthless since you just got basic resources, low rarity spell and gear duplicates, so the only reason to farm was getting mythic relics. Nowadays, on the contrary, farming gives you mythic gear, upgrades your spells and in the case of replayable adventures it gives really valuable resources.
Getting high rarity gear is now “easier and faster” than ever (if you grind). Previously, in order to improve your build and get legendary and mythics you had to farm enough to get the pieces and then wait for a long time while you gathered all the glyphs and mythic relics needed (you could farm to get the relics, but you still had to wait for the glyphs). Nowadays if you farm enough you will be able to get high rarity gear at a much faster rate that was posible before. For example, I started a secondary account post 3.0 and I was amazed at how fast I was able to get stronger: 1 month to get gold rewards against max tier XX dragon, in 2 months I already had a build with 7 mythics and 4 legendaries.
We can now experiment with different gear and spells: in the previous system you could only upgrade a limited amount of gear and spells, particularly if you wanted them to lvl 50. So in the end you just created a single build and if you wanted to try other builds it had to be at most at epic, or legendary if you were willing to risk glyphs. Nowadays it is much easier to try different builds at legendary or even mythic. For example, in my main account I have over 100 mythics, when previously I would just have resources to get 15 or so.
This doesn’t mean that everything has improved, of course. For example, we have lost the ability to freely use different classes, so now new players have to stick to 1-2 of them. Additionally, the new system is heavily dependent on farming, grinding and RNG, so it makes progression for very casual players that hardly grind much slower. Additionally, even if the game has become objectively much better for grinder players in terms of rewards and progression, the RNG dependency can make it feel more frustrating when you aren’t getting what you are seeking for. So even if I believe that all in all the game is at a better place than before, that doesn’t mean all players have to be happy with it.
There is a big mental adjustment to this system of mythics from the old system. In this new system I get so many more mythics than I did in the old system, but I do find it tough to get a high quality specific mythic from the seasons. That is totally just a higher tier issue.
Boss Rush is great to earn mythics.
The seasonal events have let us earn mythics.
Weapon shards for a random mythic weapon was just silly nice. I hate to tell the dev team how much I appreciated that because the bean counters might be watching!
Crafting aether into mythics. I thought that unlocked at 45, but I could be wrong.
The ability to grind the replayable adventures with gems to gain a net gain of gems to then buy mythics in the shops is crazy.
Now focusing on a season specific mythic can be a real pain. I hope they send the followers out to learn how to craft the seasonal mythics and spells. But even if they don’t, you can grind out an endgame gear set over a month or two.
That would be wonderful. It is utter misery trying to max out a pre-3.0 seasonal spell or obtain higher rarity seasonal non-base Legendary gear. Though I’m dubious that this will happen anytime soon, as the devs want to protect their Ancient Coin economic systems.
