With the minion rework underway I’m finally getting around to mentioning something that’s starting to bother me more and more. The current two options for sorting minions when selecting to open chests just doesn’t cut it anymore. Given the length of time I have played the game and that I now have hundreds and hundreds of minions purely sorting by time taken or bonus key chance isn’t good enough for me anymore. I have too many minions which are fast with a terrible key chance and heaps of minions with a great key chance but are rather slow.
The Problem: Most of my best minions don’t appear at the start of either list. “The best” being those those with a high key chance and a fast speed.
Solution: Some sort of better sorting method and/or more sorting methods.
The only one I have come up with so far (hence the need for some brainstorming) is having a favourites list for opening chests. That way I can favour the 30+ best minions and use them first before going back to the current default lists. Two small issues. 1. How to sort the favourites. 2. I currently favour the minions that are unique from seasons so I don’t accidentally delete them so this doesn’t exactly work with my suggestion unless there is a separate favourite list.
Any other ideas?
I came across this and there is some good ideas here too. Having a filter list may even be better than a favourites list.
I completely agree that we need a better way of sorting the minions. If I wanted to use my minions efficiently I would have to waste a lot of time searching for them every time I get a chest. This is important for me because I am currently out of keys, which limits how many chests I can open everyday (and therefore how much I can play). An efficient use of my minions would allow me to play more and open more chests, but I am not ready to waste so much time looking for the best minions to use. Therefore, I just use the first one that appears even if it is not the best one.
It is true that having a nice sorting method seems difficult, though. We would need a system where every player could make their own lists but in a way that adding new minions wouldn’t mean redoing everything from scratch.
Game needs a might filter. I get that cunning and speed are the most important filters, but a might filter would come in handy when assigning low priority minions to things like wooden and iron chests. Last thing you want to do is waste a Jelly King or Scarabee on a wooden chest.
Also chests are set up backwards, with the shortest timer chests often on the far right side. You start on the far left, so everytime you have to scroll through all the chests just to find the shortest timer. Make it so you always default to the shortest chest timer, it would save so much time.
I completely agree with the above.
I think it would also be an improvement if it was enough to click there 1x to switch between filters (rather than twice: first click to display a selection screen, second click to choose).
Just in case, as I don’t want there to be any confusion or misinformation. We have not mentioned that we are looking to do a minion rework in the future. We have not mentioned any specific update or that it is currently being worked on.
Wanted to clarify, so no one is reading posts like these are confused when 3.3 releases.
If a new update is going to contain a minion rework, we will likely announce it before and it will have it’s own blog, like the other major core reworks.
Just give us a season’s head up (if you can). We don’t need the details at the start of the season, but it would to know, just so we can prepare for it.
Good to know. I suspect myself and others read the almost two year old Roadmap and believed the minion rework was coming around the time of the Map rework.
Which is totally fair, while it does display later I think past us had hoped to have gotten round to it by now.
But with some bigger updates taking the bulk of our work load, studio restructuring and the spell and gear reworks, minions were put on the backburner.
I did bring it up again recently in a list of game modes and mechanics that need some love & attention again
I do think minions are in a pretty good spot now. Might minions have always had the short end of the stick. But now with the new tourney changes, I think might minions have the best passive ability in tourney. So it evens things out a bit better than it was before.
I think it might be the text that Esoxnepa pasted above as to why many people have been expecting a minion rework. A minion rework coming up is mentioned on Discord from time to time which feeds expectations. Thanks for clarifying if it happens it won’t be anytime soon.
With my comment I wasn’t necessarily expecting it anytime soon but I did assume that it was being at least actively thought about and planning was going on. Thanks for the correction.
Lol! I still read these forums occasionally mate and i feel for you guys still trying to build this very cool game into what it could be but im never coming back . Keep fighting the good fight
