Can we stop getting rare&epic relics in challenges?

You enter the challenges hoping for nice rewards and then see this…

Since they started dropping in dungeon chests, rare and epic relics have become a pretty easy to get resource. As an example, these are my relics for my main account and my secondary account (3 months old):

Therefore, every rare and epic relic in challenges is pretty much a “worthless” reward. However, they are so frustratingly common there (we hardly get a day without at least one of them)!

Would it be possible to remove rare and epic relics from challenge rewards? Since the spell and gear rework we have been complaining of food and ore shortage; exchanging the rare and epic relic rewards with food and ore in challenges should mean nothing much to you but would help us a little and make the challenges feel more rewarding.

Thanks for your time and hard work :slightly_smiling_face:

They could also get rid of the crystal cost of taking Epic to Legendary in the relic exchange.

But yes, I get too many rare and epic relics.

Rare and Epic Relics was something I was talking to the team about recently! I’ll add this to the notes I already shared with them

September is clearly reminding us of this issue. 3 days of the month and every day a 4 epic relic challenge for a different Odin member :

Quick question for my own feedback and such…

What do players get from playing Challenges, that you aren’t getting from Event Battles or
elsewhere in PQ3?

What makes you play/enjoy Challenge battles?

For example, I almost never play Challenge battles - if I want something outside of a Season Dungeon, I go to Event battles or Hunts (also rarely Hunts though).

Hunt is fantastic actually, because you can farm a diamond chest and hold it till you want or need (say your sick or going to sleep or work or whatever) to use it (one per character slot). Sort of like re-usable tickets, big fan of Hunt.

As far as daily challenges go… gems, food, ore, keys, tickets, mythic and legendary relics

For me, mostly Gems, Mythic Relics, Food, Follower Crystals are the items that drive the challenges.

I check the challenges every day. I will often play all of the challenges with the above, plus keys, scrolls, or runes.

I don’t mind occasional epic relics. They may even be worth a lot to newer player. Once you are in the endgame, then epic relics are worth less than food to me.

But since I can see what each challenge offers, I just skip them if it isn’t something interesting to me.

Knowing the reward is the key to challenges. You can quickly play it or leave it depending on your needs.

This is the main reason I do challenges, I can know what I am going to get for that battle and I can decide if I do it or not. However, having virtually worthless rewards too often makes the challenges pretty lacklustre.

Premium rewards I like seeing most:

  • Mythic relics
  • Gems
  • Follower crystals

Good rewards it is always nice to get:

  • Food
  • Ore
  • Epic runes & scrolls
  • Legendary relics
  • Uncommon scrolls (not for veteran players, but yes for post 2.5 players)
  • Keys

Low value rewards that may be interesting for beginner players but useless for mid and late gamers:

  • Shards
  • Rare & epic relics
  • Uncommon runes

I understand that you cannot give premium rewards all the time, and that you have to also offer low value rewards for those that are starting. Maybe the challenges could better adapt to the player progression so that as we level up our hero and citadel we get better rewards and stop getting low level challenges and rewards (always remembering those “low value” rewards that nowadays are nearly premium, such as uncommon scrolls).

But if you don’t want to change things to much, I would say that the main issue is epic relics, since they are extremely frequent in the challenges (most days I get 1-2 of those, 3 and 4 are also frustratingly common) but become “worthless” quite soon due to them also appearing a lot in chests. Rare relics are also “worthless” but they appear with a much lower frequency so they aren’t so frustrating. So just by lowering the frequency of epic relics so that we get more valuable rewards instead should be enough to make the challenges more interesting. There is nothing wrong with getting some low value rewards, but not if we get several of them everyday.

If we could get chances to have top tier rewards increase based on the citadel level it’d be great as well!
