I honestly cannot comprehend how this made it into the game. Who thought this was a good idea? I have been gaming for over 40 years and this is hands down the most ludicrous feature I have ever seen. This is the one thing that singlehandedly ruined the experience for me. I refuse to pay for a prize that I have already earned.
Anyways, I hope all the money you make from this mess was worth it.
Wasting chests early is reflexively dissatisfying but the situation is much improved and I imagine the only way to be salvaging 80%+ of chests as a new player now would be if you are playing a lot of hours daily right out of the gate. With the increased accessibility of keys from the daily shop, the ability to use food now to accelerate chests out of the vault, etc there are very few reasons to have to waste chests except perhaps in the first few days of the game (which are very low value chests based on level).
Understandably a new player though may not realize all the avenues available right away to expand their ability to open chests. And I can certainly see an argument at this point for just abandoning keys entirely and shifting costs more to other items; however that is a wholesale remake of the economy which is unlikely in the near term.
@Deadhead, I understand the frustration though as the Chest mechanics and economy are not intuitive and can be offputting for many.
as a long term player who now hase L50 character and > L50 citadel chests are not rewarding at all. Apart from earning gold.
I salvage nearly everything they generate as I have the gear I want.
What I want is glyphs and character relics - but I have to buy these with real money as they never show up in chests . Game says “small chance in > L35 chests” but I’ve never seen them ever.
This means to upgrade a to mythic I have to spend over 4000 crowns at least - which means spending over $100 local currency to buy the gems. PER ITEM of Gear.!! So to get a 6 piece set to mythic I have to pay over $600 dollars. c’mon even I’m not that greedy.
