[Fix released] Error 4003-0000-0000 blocking asset loading

Hey Jeto,

Ran into a nasty error tonight trying to play the Wedding Crasher dungeon in Season/Party. The loading bar just gets stuck on “Loading Assets…” and then throws Error Code 4003-0000-0000 saying the destination host has an erroneous SSL certificate.

I know the usual fix is to troubleshoot locally, so I already went ahead and did the whole routine: uninstalled the game, booted into PS4 Safe Mode, did a full database rebuild, and did a completely clean reinstall. It didn’t fix a thing. The exact same 4003 SSL error pops up the second I get to the title screen. I can exit the error, but the Loading Assets never load, meaning I cannot actually play the game anymore.

Since I saw at least one other player report this same thing earlier in the evening in our Kingdom Chat, and it completely blocked me when I tried playing after midnight tonight (July 23), it looks like something went wrong on the server side with the certificates for these specific dungeon files.

Hopefully the backend team can take a quick look at the server bindings for the Wedding Crasher asset list when they get into the office! Attaching a picture of the error screen below.

Platform: PS4
When: Started happening for me after midnight, though others saw it earlier tonight.
Steps: Try to launch Wedding Crasher dungeon, get stuck on asset load screen.

PLEASE HURRY WITH THE FIX…GAME IS UNPLAYABLE at the moment…WAAAUUUUGH!!!

Several players are complaining of errors while doing certain game modes inside the game too.

I brought it up on 001 and saw you there Higure. It’s got way worse than I first reported there. At the time I was seeing connection issue error messages pop up 4 or 5 in both the “event” battles available. They were very long, the full message wouldnt fit on the screen. But I could just close those and go do something else.

But later I saw the same error messages while playing story, and again while changing equipment.

Finally I got the same 4003 error Kenpo has on start up and am completely locked out. Same error code, except for me the number that appears before the word connection is 0. I’ve never touched wedding crashers. I think it’s affecting more of the game

*edit- Just after posting I took one more stab. I did get in. Was able to open a chest, collect supplies, and change equipment. Then I tried to do a dungeon, got the 4003 message in game, and I’m locked out again.

The asset URL’s SSL certificate expired Wed, 22 Jul 2026 23:59:59 GMT:

There is nothing you can do to fix this with your game locally.

Cheers, Gary.

Same issue, I’m brand new just found this game a week ago and been grinding it heavily everyday. Now I can’t play any battle. Originally on Xbox and created my account to cross over to PC neither can connect or if they do they don’t last for very long into battles. Real bummer, it felt like I did something wrong like equipped something or rushed my leveling and broke my game data in some way, a small relief to see I’m not alone.

I set up a minimal monitoring for this issue in the Community Discord: Puzzle Quest 3 Community
so you know in real time when it’s fixed.

Getting a certificat error since last night when trying to enter a battle (any battle it seems). Error is 4003-0000-0000 ssl ca certificate error

This is being reported on our Discord server

I played adventure mode yesterday and today on Steam and Android without any problems.

I suspect that the devs will look into this first thing in the morning (they are in Australian timezone). Until then, you can use the monitoring I linked in the other bug report above to check if it’s solved in real time.

Cheers, Gary.

Open a ticket, and you provide all the error information

I have been looking into this since I got a couple of tickets about this yesterday.
No need for tickets.

So how come some of us can still play and what’s causing it?

What should we not do to have this happen to our account?

I have no idea why it’s affecting some people and not others, but the devs are looking into it now.
There wouldn’t be anything you could do to prevent it, I imagine, unless everyone had this start happening after doing the single exact same thing - like starting a very specific battle it’s not happening to people who have that SSL data cached (according to devs)

Thank you, fingers crossed that it gets resolved soon and doesn’t take too long or we might start losing even more of the player base.

Pretty sure its not a specific battle triggering it because after my clean reinstall, the 4003 error hits me right at the title screen before I can even log into the main menu.

A few of us checked the network error code, and it looks like the SSL certificate for the asset server actually expired yesterday. The reason it’s affecting some people and not others right now usually comes down to local network caching or regional routing lottery—players who were already logged in or have the certificate cached locally can bypass the security check, while anyone doing a hard sync or a fresh install hits the brick wall.

Once the backend team pushes a fresh certificate update to that Amazon S3 link, it should clear up for everyone instantly!

I was about to play story mode when I got an error. I’d only been playing adventure mode without any problems since yesterday and today, but the error appeared when I tried to play story mode.
