Hello, this is my first topic, I hope I’m doing everything right.
I have a Necro with 3626 armor and a spell book at level 50 and a citadel level of 291, but I hardly give any points myself. Of course, the fact that I don’t bring in any points doesn’t really bother me, but unfortunately I no longer have strong opponents in the elite and champion tournaments. Actually, with maximized equipment, spells and spell books, you should also get the corresponding opponents. Unfortunately I only get the strongest opponents in the open tournament. In the other tournaments i dont get I also have maximum gear, book and spells, but I haven’t faced strong opponents for two weeks. I myself have been consistently playing for first place in the open tournament for weeks but I am deprived of the opportunity to achieve the best result even though I could achieve maximum points every week. Apparently I’m not the only person who has this problem and it’s really frustrating when you can’t have the same opportunities in PvP. You lose interest in PvP and there is an imbalance in a skill-based mode. I would like to see an adjustment to the PvP system and a fix so that everyone has the same chances.
Just to add to ur post before some one mentions it mucke123 has been getting 70% against his enemies yet it seems people that get lowere % still score more, seems strange
At least for me, the answers to these questions are straightforward.
Given the recent changes in the game, PvP is currently the absolute lowest priority for me. If it wasn’t for the participation Gems for clearing the six tiers each week, I probably would not even play the mode at all. Everything that could obtained with Honor can now be obtained much more easily in Event mode using Marks, far more quickly than waiting for a random Glyph offer to appear in a daily guild bazaar roll for Honor and without all the headaches of playing PvP.
Further, the current meta of grinding Adventures for Ore/Mythic Relics/Ancient Coins discourages playing PvP (as it is a low value activity) in favor of activities are that are of more efficient use of time and effort to advance my account.
And if I don’t play PvP all week, you don’t see me in a Tourney to fight either as one of the top opponents. Worse yet, if I am dragging my feet all week and don’t pass a willpower check to at least grind out the participation tier prizes until late on the last day of those Tourneys, there’s a very good chance you’ll never see me but I will see you. And therefore, I will have more points than you for the week because you will have already playing your final matches for that tourney before I even enter and never have the opportunity to claim your ~12-14k points from beating me at least once that week, while I have claimed those points from beating you.
This is easy to explain. Your score is based on 2 things:
Base enemy score (the number of points they give).
Bonus score (% obtained by reaching the different goals)
So even if you get 70% against all your opponents, if they give less base score than those of a player with 65% your overall score may be lower.
And how to get the best opponents? All players will be offered at least the best opponent in their tourney that they haven’t yet in their top 10 battles. So in theory all players have equal opportunities because they are able to face the top 10 enemies in their tourney. However, in practice you can get even better opponents out of your tourney (from higher or lower ranks), as long as your “strenght” (the number of points you give) is high enough.
Currently, having max gear score (all lvl 50 spell book and scrolls, mythic gear and ancient mythic spells) may not be enough. Gear quality, citadel level and the exact attributes of your gear also have a high impact on your “strenght”, and therefore on your ability to get paired against strong opponents out of your league. I am talking about huge differences, PvP scores for a player with max gear score can range something like from 4k to 11k depending on gear quality, attributes and citadel level.
If your “strength” isn’t high enough, the best way to ensure you face the strongest opponents is ranking up to champion league, where most of the strongest players are.
This is not true. The opponents get fixed 24 hours before the tourney ends, so if you enter the tourney the last day of the week, your character won’t become available to fight. Others won’t be able to battle you, true, but you won’t be able to do it either. And remember that nowadays we can battle ourselves, so all of us can claim those points, not only others. So if you enter late and claim points from beating me, nothing will change because I can also claim those points, and neither of us can claim your points.
So it doesn’t matter whether you enter the tourney in time for your character to be included in the pool or not. All players from the same tourney that play the last day of the tourney face the exact same pool of opponents, and therefore have the same opportunities (in theory, in practice it is not true due to the reasons explained in the previous post).
The problem is that I was strong enough the whole time to get the best opponents with high points and for two weeks now I haven’t been able to get the best opponents without a plausible reason - this system with the quality and strength doesn’t work properly. Before that, I always had strong opponents and I didn’t change anything about the equipment or my strength. The system is totally buggy and I’m not the only one who has this problem. I think everyone should get the same quality of players in the respective leagues and tournaments as others, that would greatly reduce the frustration factor. I haven’t talked here about whether PvP is worth it or not, that’s a completely different topic and actually has to be discussed here nothing lost. There have already been enough players who have completely stopped playing because of the right opponent pool and I can understand that now. I’m on the Playstation as far as the citadel is concerned and I’m easily a top 10 player in terms of power level, but the system clearly doesn’t give me enough points and that is not fair at all and in my opinion PvP should have equal opportunities without this it is currently not fair at all. How exactly could it be implemented now? By having a separate league list and being able to select the 10 highest players in each league, this would be much fairer and would bring the unfairness that currently prevails back into balance.
I agree. It should be really easy to implement, devs just need to remove out-of-league matchups. Since players within a league always can face the top 10 opponents of that league, if there are no out-of-league matchups then everyone would have the same opportunities. But I guess devs prefer it the current way because it makes it more difficult for players to tie at first place.
At least with the Playstation, not everyone is able to achieve 70% everywhere thanks to the balance adjustment. Unfortunately, I can’t speak about other types of places because I don’t know their results. I personally think a change like the one I wrote before is better and fairer than a possible imbalance of 5000 points due to the opponents not getting it. In my opinion, players who consistently get 65% don’t deserve to be above people who consistently get 70%. For the 70% of players this is a slap in the face. PvP should be skill-based, currently it isn’t and I only had a basic idea of how it could be made more fair.
I’d like to add my support to this post as I’m a regular versus player on playstation and was rather shocked not seeing mucke124 top of all our leaderboards based on their previous track records.
I’m also a supporter of the Equal Opportunities idea so that all entries in a league get a chance to play against the same opponents. I appreciate that may mean tied scores however I don’t see many consistently getting 70% and also if they do then surely deserve the same rewards.
Devs please investigate and restore the Status Quo
Idk, I have got my highest scores to date every week, but if high level people don’t join and play PvP tourneys, then it will be hard to achieve a high score.
To the devs, if the issue is not enough incentive, is it possible to sweeten the deal in PVP? The Vrs honor shop could use an update that would benefit players in obtaining resources or minions.
Events shop is good, but the vrs honor shop with a little boost would be just as good, and incentivize high level players to play.
For me the reason I play PvP, is because I get the gems (constantly) if I reach top 10 it’s hard to get 70 % because this game have a lot of elites (whales with a nice setup) can destroy anyone.
Out of league opponents will only appear if there aren’t any other suitable opponents within the event.
Such as the first person who enters the Tourney, or someone who has fought everyone available already.
If there was no out of league match up, then the League wouldn’t be able to start until there were enough opponents to fill all places - so the first person in is just waiting.
New opponents are not entered or updated on the final day, so everyone has the same pool of opponents.
Play everyone available, within the same League and Tourney > If none available > Play someone from another League, same Tourney > If none available > Open pool
A way around this could store records from the past matching tourney event… but that is a chunk amount of data to be storing, for an extended time and would impact the servers. Or that is my understanding
That all being said, I have shared this thread with the team.
If the pool of opponents is locked on the final day, then the leaderboard for the top 10 is well established as most likely all of the top 10 have played each other once.
However, a problem arises when one of the normal top 10 does not enter a tourney until the final day. Because the draw is locked on the final day, that player will see all of the current top 10 on the leaderboard. BUT, the game will also recognize that one of the normal top 10 has entered the tourney and generate the “ghost” of that player after they enter. Because the player can fight themselves on the last day, but others cannot because the draw is locked, that player has an advantage of the rest of the field.
Alternate idea: Perhaps disabling player ghost player generation on the final day a tourney might be more feasible to ensure all players have exactly the same draw pool on that day?
I found out the reason why I didn’t get any more strong opponents. The quality of the individual pieces of armor has the greatest influence on which opponents you face. Personally, I haven’t changed my teams and 2 weeks ago all strong opponents were shown to me. I believe that the quality of the armor has the biggest influence on which enemies you face in PvP. I don’t think it’s that bad now because I have enough resources. Personally, I believe that quality can have too much of an impact on your matchmaking because the more players that are of higher quality, the worse the opponents you will face. I think this is very unhealthy for the game, as everyone can now simply switch their best armor every week and take their highest quality core set for each color. Personally, I would think it would be better to reduce the importance of quality and change it to mythic as the minimum requirement for opponents. That also explains why the open tournament worked really well for me
I am afraid that is not the only instance when we get out of league opponent. We also get opponents from other ranks if our perceived strenght is so high that there are no opponent in our league that satisfy the “Greater than +10% of your perceived strength” condition and there are opponents in other ranks that do it.
I will give you an example you should be able to check. Both Anjara and me are in Open champion tourney, started several hours after the reset (so no issue of not having opponents to face) and our list of top 10 opponents are the following ones (we are not getting offered better ones):
As you can see, there is one enemy, ZetaEagle, I have faced but she hasn’t. If ZetaEagle was from our tourney, she would have been faced against it since they are part of the top 10. But that isn’t the case (see gets paired against lower scoring opponents). This, I am sure, is because ZetaEagle is from lower rank tourney and only those of us that have a high enough perceived strength can get it. I have a 7600 score so there is no further opponent in my league with the +10% score condition I haven’t already faced, that is why the game found ZetaEagle (+9000 score) from lower ranks and faced me against it. But Anjara has a lower score and there are plenty of opponents in the league that satisfy the +10% condition, so the game doesn’t give her ZetaEagle.
I am sure this also happens at lower ranks too, with players of high score getting better enemies from higher rank leagues apart from the top 10 of their league.
This is what we are asking to be removed, because it makes the field uneven as players with high perceived strength can get opponents others can’t.
Are you sure of this? Have you checked it by entering only on the last day and still getting the opportunity to face your ghost? I don’t remember not having you in the opponent pool for any Open tourney. If this is true it is a bug that could be exploited by players and should be fixed as soon as possible.
I enjoy pvps and for me its the most interesting part of the game.
The “out of league” problem was already reported 2022 and repeated several times, but nothing happened. So I was about to write about it again. First I can understand to fill the opponents at the very start, but you still get ool players with a filled ranking days later, which looks like a bug.
I will give you two examples , how gamebreaking this issue is:
1.) Before I reached the cl and a new yellow tournaments appeared,
I already have known, that i must get the wellknown top yellow player Pyrdacor ool to have a chance for the top spot due his strong base score.
Sometimes I got lucky, sometimes not.
2.) I was shocked to see ZetaEagle in Reyars list, because I never got this player in the cl offered. Neither this nor last tournaments.
The by far easiest solution of this, which needs just 5min fixing, noone has mention yet:
Each ool player or player from a previous tournament gives you normal hp and tour points, but the score for the ranking is multiplied by 0.1.
Alternative NPCs instead of ool players or you can click on everyone in the list, see their top10, click on one opponent and forces this player to be the 3rd choose.
Last solution would also give you the possibility to pick your own ghost and can remove a tough opponent blocking other top10 opponents, but requires most coding.
I hope at least the first solution can be implented for the next update or soon later. Thank you.
Sure enough that I am posting about my (at least self-perceived) observations.
Of course, the next step would be obtaining screenshot evidence of the observation occurring in-game. That’s going to require waiting a full week the next tourney to occur to obtain, at least on my end. Perhaps Jeto can ping someone on the Team to timewarp an internal testing version of the game to obtain internal evaluations on the matter in the meantime.
Fully agree though, that if accurate, this does need to be addressed for fairness purposes of the Tournies.
