Reforging gear attributes seems off

For some time, I’ve noticed that reforging a single attribute, for me, results is not random. Tonight I again locked 2 attributes that I wanted, reforged, and got speed. Reforge, different mana color but speed again. Reforged x 5 with speed each time.

Got disgusted and went to another piece with a different Follower and got speed x 3.

This is not an isolate event. Is this plaguing other players?
Locking 2 attributes cost 2 follower crystals and I just chewed up
a batch of them.

Devs said that the chance to get certain attributes are higher/lower for specific pieces, something I have seen when reforging. Also, some attributes seem to always appear with a higher chance, for example speed, power in armor or vitality in accessories.

However, if you really got speed 5 times in a row when reforging a single attribute that starts to feel a bit more fishy. Personally I have experienced everything when reforging, from getting the needed attributes on first try, to having to reforge dozens of times to just get 1 of the attributes I wanted, but never something so extreme as your case.

By the way, nowadays I never reforge with 2 locked attributes, I find that the chance to get the attribute I want is too low so the process can become extremely expensive.

Thank you for the reply Higgy.
Actually, I tried again and stopped at 3 tries. Had a green piece, rolled a blue with speed, didn’t accept it, rolled again, another blue with the exact same attributes including speed in the same slot. Didn’t accept it. Tried again and got red with speed in the same slot. Gave up. I’ve noticed this many times, and this is more than fishy.

The gear piece was exalted, with 3 red attributes. 2 were must haves for my build . Unfortunately one was speed. I could not reforge without losing the attributes I wanted. How would you recommend changing one attribute?
Also, how are you?

The best way to do this is by finding a piece of gear you can sacrifice with the attribute you want.

Use Refine > Attribute for this process. It will transfer the attribute onto your gear and sacrifice the source. It transfers the value too, so use a high value attribute for best results.

My experiences with this situation has shown me that for each set of gear, there is a pool of attributes that have an rather high probability of appearing. Conversely, there is another pool of attributes that have an exceptionally poor chance of appearing. All other attributes outside of these pools have an average-ish chance of appearing.

For example, skull-oriented sets tend to roll physical damage boosting attributes, while spellcasting attributes are rare rolls. The Warlord set likes to roll Fire attributes, and so on.

Without knowing the particulars of what is being rerolled by the OP, what attributes are being kept, and what is attempting to be rolled, it is hard to say with any certainty what is going on. But… if I had to fathom a guess, the OP is attempting to roll an attribute that is rare for the piece of gear to naturally roll. It is also possible that the two locked attributes are in the common pool of attributes for that piece of gear, and that Speed is also in the common pool and being defaulted to if the other common attributes are already on that piece of gear. That said, the devs have always been extremely evasive on providing the particulars of how attributes are rolled on various pieces of gear.

Though given that the OP is locking two of the three attributes, I’d 100% agree with OuttaTime’s suggestion. Just transfer the desired third attribute from another piece of Mythic gear and avoid the headaches and frustration.

Thank you. As soon as I asked that question I realized I should have noted the attribute was dark damage, maxed out, so I knew replacing it by refining that attribute for equal or similar level from another piece was difficult. The other attributes were Health and Crit Bonus. I kept them. Ergo, my try to reforge. Simple, easy, reforge, get anything but speed. Lots of wasted resources.
Thanks.

For the first and sometimes second attribute reforge is fine. But once you have 2 attributes you want to keep, to get the third one the best way is what 00h00m explained, refine attribute.

Doing fine, thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks OOhOOm:
That is my main way of increasing attribute value and great levels. But every so often a great piece comes along with 2 / 3 attributes, and one risks losing gear mythic levels by transferring an attribute with a slightly less level. But, as I was being burned by speed, my mindset that one more try, ok burned again but RNG should not give speed, ok burned again, perhaps Devs should more fully explain how reforge should happen.
I see replies from the top and best players, and yet with theories from each, no Dev has stepped up to explain this event.

Higure said it already, this is something we have mentioned in the past.

Hi Jeto. Thank you for your reply but the question remains unanswered. My reforge attempts resulted in speed, too many times for chance and consumed to many resources. So that we may give our respective kingdoms correct information what are the reforge attribute game settings?

Hi Lyrian.
I can only imagine the amount of time and resources you expended to arrive at your theory. Thank you.

what item were you reforging?

Thank you for helping me. Saviors Shield.

Here’s a tip. You keep the speed when it gives it to you and then you re-roll. You no longer have to worry about getting speed since its less likely or even impossible (depending on the circumstances) to get it on a re-roll. Saving a bad re-roll can result in a really good one the next time.

Hi Kenpo (as in Karate?)

Indeed, that is excellent advice. Thank you.
