It’s the Quality side of the upgrade path that had no possible upgrades, because the set link was removed quite awhile ago and that they are unique items so that there are duplicates to merge with them to increase their Quality.
So, totally agree, you shouldn’t have to sacrifice other DLC items or unique items to upgrade. Currently, as you can see in my screenshot that is how it is set up.
I think they are all in their own “set” which is why they are the only pieces of gear that will display when I try and refine one of them.
I think in the backend it’s just long list of gear names and doesn’t specifically calls out what is DLC/uniquely attainable (like the Lucky Clover ring), so an easy thing to miss if you are just trying to grab anything without a set relic.
Following this up further after speed typing, the team is looking at if it’s possible to make those items of gear use other pieces of gear that share the same Relic (list in patch notes), but we can’t get that into 3.2 as it has already passed submission and is preparing to be deployed next week - and this would require a client fix.
I think an easy and fair fix, and this could also apply to cache items. Have the set that uses the same relics be the ones you sacrifice to refine these special unique items, but it would be the 20% refinement boost (the mid boost).
I figured that was probably going to be mostly likely fix.
Kind of sucks a bit because the 5% perfect match upgrade option is not available (unique items), but at least the 2% indirect “set” match is better than nothing at all.
I imagine it would be changed to use a matching relic type in place of a matching set, so any other item that has the same relic would then also be used for the +5% refining. Giving more options for matching slot and element.
So I picture, Golden Grasp uses a Jeweled Relic, so to get the +5% you would need another glove that also uses a Jeweled Relic and matching element
But that’s only a thought and I haven’t had any further information in the past hour.
Thanks for the detailed material, I’m looking forward to the start of the new season.
It is an interesting choice to turn a normal set (serpentine set) into a seasonal one (Swamp-Soaked serpentine set).
I think the followers can still only produce the normal serpentine set. Which won’t make much sense anymore.
Unless the normal set can be used to refine the variant. I’m wondering if the items from the normal Serpentine set can be used to refine the Swamp-Soaked serpentine gears?
It looks nice, there are plenty of new things and needed fixes.
I love how the Endless Dungeons sound, I hope they live up to the expectation!
Thanks for these QoL improvements on the adventure, they will surely be helpful.
Finally we get the ability to upgrade a spell in the Reward list! Great news
I like the change on Xione crafting, it makes the random and color crafting options better.
Thank you, this will be welcome against the now too powerful enemy spells.
That was fast, thank you!
Nice to have this option back.
Being able to refine them without issues is a welcome improvement, but we still need more practical ways of refining the quality of such items. Currently, special items can be worse than the rest because refining their quality is nearly impossible. For example, I am currently thinking about some new builds and I would love to use my Shield of anthrite, but it doesn’t make much sense because since its quality cannot be realistically refined it would be better to use any other shield. What you have said about being able to use items that use the same Relic is a great idea and I really hope it can be included in 3.3
