@Jeto @HigureTheStillWind wow jeto that was one of the biggest sympathisers of your game and defended the game and the actions to the point where he is losing respect from players that would ultimately call him a in game friend aka i’m Rabbitdude1 and I still have a lot of respect for you Higgy - as you only used common sense in this game and insults never truly work - and tbf jeto is probably not to blame either he just has to deal with the show that the devs have done. But their next actions will have true consequences- because as i said before a game that asks you to grind the same thing for 10s of hours has serious repercussions
You dont have to apologize, Higgy, I am used to be offended for telling clearly what I think and I dont care anymore much since a very long time. I listen, think about it and eventually give my 5 cent again if necesarry and I like ppl that do the same. Thats how good and effective conversation works.
Writing books around what you want to say, never really saying them, leads to very nasty things in the end.
We say in germany Diplomats cause more wars then Generals, they just need much more words for it. You can check that this is true by a short glimpse into your newspaper every day actually.
Regarding the topic, well, get used to have a Dev that lives in their own world (I bet they really think they are genius, just we are to dumb to see it), that do not play their own game at all and that are not dedicated to their work besides getting money for it. Its a job … not a passion.
A Dev that never thinks about consequences before they do things and do not ever learn from major mistakes.
I know, truth is hard, but how often again shall they proove it before you believe it.
The world is not pink, even Barbies is not.
@Jeto just done the maths which i see clearly your guys can’t - extended it by 3 days RUBBISH! - Still means to complete 3 dungeons took me 3:35 mins - so i need 800 - 800/3 = 267 3;35 in seconds is 215 so multiply that by 267 (amount of dungeons i need to complete ) = 54705 which equates to 15 hours and 57 mins and 35 seconds ( means I need to grind 5 hours and 25 mins a day to complete - WTF are you guys thinking over there?? Seriously
GAME DELETED- Adios —
Just an FYI for everyone. I logged on this morning, and the game is reporting that the St. Patrick’s Day event has been extended for three days, and not one, on top of halving the requirements for the last step.
@Trapped , im on the verge of deleting too and i soend real money in PQ3, depends how the devs fix their mistakes, they fix this properly, i stay, they dont, just like so many others i know, i deoete forever and never touch another 505 game again!
I am just still so confused over the direction the Devs went with this - Jeto surely there was an option to have some fun or interesting quests related to St Patricks Day - kill 20 green enemies, open 5 golden chests, cast a spell of each colour 5 times - just a few off the top of my head.
This was just such a lazy, poorly thought out event that has rightly got everyone extremely angry. I dont know if you have been monitoring in game chat, however it has almost exclusively been anger and frustration at this event.
As someone that plays a lot, I will STILL have problems finishing within the 3 extra days without grinding easy dungeons - and why should I have to do that?
Quick Maths: Average 1 minute per kill say - 950 kills = 16 hours of NON STOP FIGHTING EASY OPPONENTS.
The band-aid solution did nothing to address this absolute Cluster of a decision and has left a bad taste in everyones mouth right when you are about to roll out a major update… Not sure how you can even salvage it now as it looks like many people are fed up. I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt that this was a lazy dev idea on a Friday that wanted to go home and didnt actually think about how long 1450 battles would take. But that seems unlikely as the only change has been to reduce it by 500 to a still astronomical 950.
Sorry, I have enjoyed this game a lot, but made an account just to post this rant as it seems like there is a lack of understanding of your player base.
There is not only a very big lack in understanding the playerbase, paired with big lacks in understanding their own game, there also seems to be big lacks in understanding how ftp games work sucessfully on our Devs side.
Well, if I now would start a list of additional big lacks I can see clearly … this post will get a book.
So I just say one additional thing … its not easy to burn a really good dedicated community, but its possible. And there seems to be at least no lacks on our devs side regarding how that works.
They added 3 more days, cut the final goal from 1000 to 500, and are giving everyone compensation of some sort.
And it is still extremely poorly thought out as I tried to say. It will still take a grind. It is still not ‘fun’ to do. They didn’t listen to the actual issues people had with it originally and havent acknowledged the lack of thought that STILL exists with the current requirement. 950 kills is insane for a casual player.
Still an insane grind, its literally taken the fun out of the game for me and im not even bothered anymore, i dont want a second job, i dont want to be forced to put my life, family and other games on hold because i HAVE to grind like a chimp, not fun, not interested, seems i may be missing the gear update as ill probably delete this game now.
Fix: just cut your losses, learn from your mistakes, take one on the chin and say sorry by compensating everyone with the ring, simple.
Rewarding everyone with the ring would alienate those who grind for it
Instead, reward everyone - i e. everyone who participated in the event - with a different ring … A yellow one (for pot of gold) that has similar functionality.
@Jeto … Some take aways for devs, imho:
-
A brief apology is appropriate. Not an excuse. “We miscalculated how demanding this task was. It was meant to be fun. We apologize and hope to do better going forward.” Costs the devs nothing and starts to rebuild good will. It was a mistake, even if an honest one, and an explicit apology is appropriate and mature.
-
Get some metrics for future reference. E g. “For the average player, assume 1 kill per minute when grinding.” And “casual play is no more than an hour a day.” Use metrics to better calibrate future events and challenges.
-
Target “events” to the whole customer base, not the grinders. You want to attract the casual player to put in a little more time, not alienate them with impossible (for casual) goals. Set targets appropriately. E.g. 50/100/150 kills would be challenging for new or casual players in a 4 day event, but acceptable for good rewards.
Just my $0.02 (Or maybe $0.00033, given inflation!)
It’s becoming clear to me that there needs to be more testing and thought put into the numbers they choose before they release things to the public.
The spell rework was a glaring example of that, and this event is similar, but in a smaller scale.
I don’t even have a big problem with having a huge goal like 1,450 kills on a weekend, because I think that would satiate the hardcore players who take pride in accomplishing the extreme tasks. However, I would have made the bulk of things accessible to even casual players; in this case the ring.
Here’s an example of a better approach in my opinion, that would satisfy many more of the players both casual and hardcore:
|Kills required | Reward|
|100 | Event Minion|
|150 | Event Item (ring)|
|500 | 500 Crystals|
|1000 | 1 of each Glyph type|
Something like that gives the more driven players a further goal to accomplish, but still allows everyone to get what is exclusive to the event.
@Jeto;
No doubt the true Dev’s who came up with this Ring mess dumped the cleanup upon your shoulders. I am sorry you got the brunt of the disgust from everyone. No one is happy with the Ring’s initial requirements, nor with the pathetic attempt to appease us. But the real victims, and the group I feel the most for, are the new players.
What fun did this Ring offer them? How many will throw up their hands and leave? From statements made by you, apparently the newbie’s are not even a consideration.
Then, based on the Spell rework, at this time you are going to add a gear rework in the Spell’s image. Despite there being intense disgust and anguish with the Spells. Rather than concentrate on cleaning up that, the Spells, mess; you are going to add to it with the gear rework.
I have no suggestions for you as to how to fairly compensate your dedicated player base, as in the past the Dev’s just decided and apparently accepted no player suggestions.
When the greatest supporter of this game and the Dev’s, Higgy, gives up on you, then it is time we all followed suit. This game has now imploded.
To be fair, most people seem to love the new spell rework now, after its bumpy start. A definite improvement to the game.
Hey everyone,
Just an update on how this occurred now that I have more information.
Originally the quantity of enemy defeats was taken from a previous instance when a similar event like this was run before. Unfortunately, it was missed that when that event was running it was for a full week and more tiers of goals.
Which is why the total battles was unrealistically high for 3 days.
When I jumped in here initially to respond to your replies and mentioned I didn’t expect it to be so difficult, I did not have this information. I would have shared instantly that this was not intended - instead at the time my understanding was that these totals were based on an event that was the same duration and the same quantity of battles, and was previously met with no issues.
The team is deeply sorry that what was supposed to be a fun weekend event for the Lucky Clover Ring, which had been greatly requested, has become a stressful grind that ultimately led to a lot of disappointment and anger.
I am sorry I did not have all the information when first responding, and also to those who came in to defend the mistake we made.
I have a meeting this morning where we will be discussing the compensation, and as you have already seen the event was extended further than what I had initially announced.
EDIT: As soon as I have compensation confirmed, I will share the details.
Once again, sorry that this information was not shared to you all sooner.
Thank you Jeto for acknowledging the mistake. This is a big step towards pacifying the players. Exchanging information, positive or negative, is a must towards getting the trust of us players.
On the compensation side, I leave it to you people to make a fair decision.
Thx Jeto for the apologize and the changes.
Just … You said there was a similar event in former times with same initial aquirememnts then this one … 150, 300, 1000! kills (in a week, which means 1450 in sum) and NOBODY did complain.
When was that, does somebody of the veterans remember?, (did not find one till now), cause I highly doubt it.
At least second sounds like a joke (nobody did complain)
Cause even in 7 days killing 1450 enemies is a thing only real hardcore players can manage.
That means more then 200 a day.
I am the crestwise average second/thirdbest player of the number 2 all time kingdom of this game and I do NOT kill 200 enemies a day normally and I really play a lot.
So from 30 ppl only one of us normally does.
Normal players do less then 1000 crests a week, casuals often struggle to do the 250 for the 20 ingots a week.
No kingdom, even not the most ambitious ones expect more then 500 crests a week from their players. 99 % expect 250 or less.
And you tell me now 1450 kills in a week was no problem for anybody in a similar event.
Sorry that I laugh again and ask myself if anybody of you Devs ever really play this game.
Well, not a real question, the answer is for sure … NO.
As said, I even doubt that your words or the story you came up with now are true, sorry.
Nothing like this in the 9 month I play now.
Even not close to it.
Gives your excuse again a very bad taste.
@KenpoKid69 , but i do tend to agree with @Necro , it still has its issues and needs polishing up, why not sort that first before introducing more stuff that will inevitably come with their own set of issues.
505 has this problem, instead of focusing on fixing things up, they keep throwing new things into their games bringing new problems on top of existing problems.
Don’t misunderstand me. I haven’t given up on devs, I have just opened my eyes to the truth that devs (or higher ups) have their own goals which limit our ability to enjoy the game. I still believe that among the team there are enough members willing to work hard for our sake, but now I won’t forget that they are limited to what they can do so I will be more careful when trying to defend dev’s works.
I still like that thanks to Jeto (and I guess some others too) we have a voice that is heard, so that serious issues get fixed and some compensation is received (sometimes better, sometimes worse). Now, this doesn’t mean I am happy with their decisions. They make too many mistakes that result in serious issues for us and even if they are later solved the harm is done. The lucky clover ring has been an absolute bomb against player’s joy, and the first response has been lukewarm at most.
I like the game and I like that when things go wrong they try to do something about it. I don’t like that things go wrong too often and that the responses aren’t always as strong as they should. Lately the philosophy seems to be something like “let’s go with this and if there are any problems players will complain and we will make it better”, a trial and error approach without proper testing. Yes, it is nice that when we complain things get fixed (other games don’t even do that) but facing frequent issues and having to keep complaining once and again gets tiring.
The players should just need to enjoy the game, not work as testers detecting and reporting bugs and spending quite a lot of time here in the forums trying to help improving the game.
As Joker said, we have to be careful with being too diplomatic, sometimes things have to be clearly stated. And the lucky clover issue has been a clear disaster for player morale. However, more than this is needed to make me lose all hope and give up on them. I like the gear rework and the devs are clearly working hard on making it as good as possible for all, learning from some of the mistakes of the spell rework and searching for ways of ensuring the players will enjoy it. So they will still have me defending their good work… But I will probably start to be more critical when things aren’t done well.
