I feel like there was something in the past that did require lots of kills. Not sure it was as high as 1450 in total but it’s possible. To go with that it was also possible the top reward wasn’t as desirable as the Lucky Clover Ring. Therefore if you missed out on the top reward it was no big deal but if you wanted to grind you could make it. Or maybe you could get the same item a few times and the highest level was legendary and lower ones were epic and rare. That way you could still get the same item, just at a lower rarity.
Old man yelling at clouds, checking in.
The original run of the event was run at a time when Skirmishes were 3 opponents per battle and Dungeons had 7. Yes, it was a grind, but opponents were much easier back in the day. (The current system reduced the number of opponents per battle by 2/3, while tripling their health/armor/resistance).
But, then again, we had 4 of those rings to chase to make the grind worth it.
Shame us Playstation users never got the opportunity to get 4 Clover Rings.
I would certainly welcome the challenge and opportunity.
Thinking about it, could we not have future challenges with ridiculous requirements but equally excellent rewards for those of us that enjoy them? It’s up to the player whether they choose to partake or not.
Thank you for the information and apology. It won’t erase everything that has happened but it is highly appreciated. Everyone does mistakes, the important thing is to acknowledge them, apologyse and try to sort it out. In that sense I believe the game, the devs and us are incredibly lucky in having you, Jeto, as the one that interacts to us. I know you try your best on helping us and trying to make us enjoy the game to the fullest (even if you not always have the power to do everything you would like).
I want to be clear that my critics above aren’t directed to you, but to the core that makes the final decisions. I really hate how you are always the one receiving the brunt of our complaints and frustrations, when you are probably the least one to blame. My trust in you (and I am sure other players’ trust too) remains strong, which is one of my main hopes for the game. And to that decision-making core please tell them we really need a bit more of testing/thinking/simulating new content to avoid these kind of sadly frequent issues. In the end most issues are solved and you manage to appease the community, but if the issues keep being so frequent we will end up getting to tired to even care to come here and complain.
I hope the apology and compensation will help calming the community down so that we can prepare ourselves to evaluate the upcoming gear rework with as much fairness as possible.
Thank you very much, this is great since it allows us to understand how the mistake happened. This type of event makes much more sense, easy goals for those that settle for the low rings and difficult goals for those that want the best one.
Let’s this be a lesson for the devs to be careful when reusing things from past events only partially, without trying to understand how they would work in the current scenario.
Thy for the sreenshot.
I see 10 enemies as first requirement there … not 150. And second already gave a ring.
And additionally in old system with much more and much easier enemies per fight.
Means … not the same at all, not comparable at all.
But at least it shows the story is some kind of half true, even so its still a bad joke to have a Dev that believes 1450 enemies in 4 days can be done of more then 0,1 % of the players (even in a week the amount would not have been much higher)-
And it also still shows how much our Dev care about what they do and how much they think about it before they just … do it.
Try and Error.
Ok, you may not believe it, but I am happy about that there is at least a bit of thruth in the spin of the excuse.
And I also, as Higure, dont blame Jeto at all.
She just tells us what she gets told.
Just wanted to share the compensation process so no one feels like it is being left aside or forgotten.
- Myself or those I work with have a discussion about what compensation we want to give or ideas around that
- This is passed up higher to be discussed about what we are sending out, what happened (in case anyone missed the prior meeting) etc
- Either gets the all good or we get feedback or suggestions back on other ideas.
It’s a whole process, and not as easy as being like, I/we are sending this out to everyone.
As mentioned in my large post yesterday, as soon as that has been confirmed - I will share the details.
Final update.
We will be sending out:
- 1 Uncommon Lucky Clover ring
- 1 Rare Lucky Clover ring
- 1 Legendary Lucky Clover ring
To everyone.
As this event was based on another St Pat’s Day event but was unintentionally much more difficult, we ended up going with similar rewards… but instead of an Epic Ring as the final reward there is now a Legendary in it’s place!
This mail will be sent to anyone who logs in between tomorrow at 11 AM AEDT and Monday 11 AM AEDT, and expire on Tuesday before 3.0 releases. This is to prevent any version errors, as we are sending the mail on 2.5.1 servers and could “break” if left till 3.0.
This also allows everyone to choose if they want to upgrade the rarity of any of them before the 3.0 gear rework releases next week - as mentioned in the Gear Rework Blog , there will no longer be rarity upgrading in 3.0
This weekend there will be a free giveaway for 1,000 Ore to also put towards any crafting you want to do pre-3.0 as well (or, anything else you want 1,000 Ore for).
Oh wow.
That is a compensation really worth the name.
I am impressed.
Excuse accepted.
Thy very much for your engagement , this will make a lot of ppl a lot less angry.
Maybe it even will make them happy.
Thank you jeto and team for all your work!
Now you tell me…just crafted a mythic, sigh. Nice compensation though
Apologies Jeto, I misread what you wrote as us having to craft to get chances to win the ore. Was too excited at the first part, the 3 extra rings to ease our suffer-ring.
Great job!
@Jeto:
Ok, so after days of grinding, I got the ring and leveled it to Legendary. The cost in time, keys, and lost rewards from chests I had to salvage will be compensated by giving me 3 more rings? The same as for those who never started the process?
How about giving those who achieved their ring the material needed to level up to mythic?
As I previously noted, you cannot / will not please everyone and I must include myself in that group. Your “compensation” is like saying FIRST PRIZE; ONE Clover Ring ! Second PRIZE; Three Clover Rings!
First prize is 4 clover rings. 2 of which you can tailor for tourney and the other 2 you can tailor for dungeon and Kingdom Defend. Or you can use all 4 in tourney for the different color tourneys, quite a prize I’d say.
Kenpok, I like your positive spin. But, the final word, has yet to be uttered.
Sorry, so very late at night here. Will be anxiously awaiting the final result.
Have a peaceful evening Kenpok.
You too, have a good night.
Thank you, thank you from an old player who actually did not need the ring now.
No Necro, its 1 good ring for doing the work.
And 2 not so good and one even better ring for doing nothing … smile.
But tbh I dont care at all, why not give the compensation to everybody, as a gift on one hand and compensation for the stress also in chat and kingdoms, this ring is not a gamechanger and last year it was for free anyways.
The year before last year you got them as we did see also relative easy.
Its a lucky clover ring, so the ppl staying cool and refused to participate on the obviously insane grind are just lucky now.
The others maybe can learn from it that its still a game. Not a job.
And I hope Dev has learned that it should stay this way.
They ruined GoW with making a job out of it, hope they dont do that twice.
And last but not least, its a big sign of pls excuse from Devs side, so best thing regarding it is, they accomplish it was bs and a fault.
Lets hope they remember for some time.
Thank you very much, that is a great compensation, much more in line of what I was expecting from all of you than the initial response. I believe I have already said everything I had to regarding the negative aspects of this issue, so now I will just focus on what this final decision deserves: thank you and good work
