I’m not going to talk about what’s not going well in the game because several have already done that. The fact that they are gradually stopping doing this is not because they are resigned but because a certain disinterest is beginning to set in.
It doesn’t help that no one responsible for the game comes to talk to us. Players understand that situations outside the game itself may have complicated things, but anything will certainly be better faced if we are on your side. Adressing issues honestly is often the best recipe. Being ignored has the opposite effect.
I agree with all of these statements but especially this. Being told ‘we evaluated likely drop rates wrong’ would go over far better than silence, as then speculation comes in, and speculation is rarely as kind or charitable as interpreting a given statement.
Cant wait till next update where i’m introduced to an armourer who, just like what has happened with my spell book, makes it impossible to progress in the game…
So much truth in a few words. We are not resigned indeed, we are waiting. Because when you spend lots of time to give feedback, trying to do the numbers and calculations to prove your points but you get only a couple of short vague answers on Monday and a absolute silence during the rest of the week on what is probably the worst and most frustrating non critical issue we have had recently… A moment reaches when you start to not care anymore. And that is really dangerous, because caring for the game is what has always made us stick to this game through the issues and adversities.
Disinterest is the key word. And the longer we are there, the more probable it is that we may stop completely caring and just walk away. The general feeling of the community right now seems to be pretty bad, and only the hope that something will be done shortly is keeping us from giving up. We understand that Jeto is having a well deserved break and that probably the team is too busy right now, but I would believe that a simple “we are listening to all of you and we are working on it but we need some time to get it right” would have been enough to help the mood lighten a bit.
I am sure that I am not the only one that hasn’t still lost his patience waiting for Jeto to come back and restore the great dev-players connection that she has expertly developed here. But that is no excuse for the poor communication and care we have seen during this week. Silence can have multiple meanings, so unless you help us know which one is the correct one be sure that we will be inclined to think of the worst case scenarios. And I will leave it at this because I am tired of “speaking” to the wall. Just know that the disinterest is spreading around and growing bigger, not knowing when the point of no return will be reached…
Disinterest has been a buzzword for quite awhile. The recent spell changes just put a giant yellow exclamation mark on the situation.
After beating the main story, what else is there to truly do for the average player? What is the reason that players should strive forward to grinding/buying out Legendary and Mythic buildouts?
To fight the KD dragon 3x a day on Difficulty 20? Nope.
To challenge the top of the Challenger PvP Leaderboards? Top 1-3% in the game, 5% max. Everyone else, likely could not care any less.
Events? Nah, they still cap at level 60 difficulty. Adventures? There are currently no prizes that exclusively require a punishing difficulty to play. Even the Dragonking Axe only requires level ~60 fights to obtain.
Then to farm/fight exactly… what? that requires Legendary and Mythic gear to obtain? No such content currently exists in game.
To farm Season Ancient Coins? And that gets you additional gear and spells not available in the main story that will let you do… what exactly that could not be done relatively will with gear and spells from the main story? shrug
Some are patient and are waiting to see what 3.0 brings. Others are not so optimistic about 3.0 after experiencing the 2.5 spell changes. We shall see. Many are looking to the 2.5.1 hotfix to bring some sanity to the matter.
But, hey, in bah humbug mode, I don’t think any has noticed yet the spell changes also doubled the Epic scroll paywall hurdle cost.
That is going to be painful for many to experience.
I believe most of us did, but the other issues are so big we haven’t said much about this. Right now it seems difficult enough to get the spell pages requires for evolution, so we haven’t thought much about the scrolls. But this is another change that instead of making evolving spells easier, it has made it more difficult. Thanks that the devs assured us they wanted us to have an easier time evolving spells, because most of the changes (go from universal resource to spell specific ones, high spell page requirements, low spell page drops, extra rarities to evolve, twice the amount of scrolls needed between rarity levels…) seem to be intended for increasing the difficulty (and player spending) instead…
I could say now, I did tell you … not only once … but … sadly that does not make it better at all.
Lets sum it up:
We have a game with many basic and very important design problems fun.- and mechanicwise, tons of them.
We have a game with tons of balancing problems and tons of useless res and items.
We have a game with tons of player motivation problems, the longer one plays, the worse.
And we have a Dev that every time again decides that this all is not worth a minute of their time.
A Dev that seems to believe that their game is a blast as it is.
A Dev that is nearly deaf on both ears.
Instead they again and again “develop” solutions for problems nobody has, except of themselves.
Well, seems to be mostly one problem (which results from being deaf at all mostly) and they try to solve it the same way every time, no matter how often this has failed already.
There is a word for this: learning resistance
Thats the worst thing that can happen to somebody, cause it makes a person doing the same mistakes over and over again, even wondering why things never change.
QED
Hey folks, just popping in to let you know I’ve been reporting on this feedback, I’m just waiting for some news to give you which will hopefully be soon.
Definitely not ignoring you at all!
The team just need time to discuss the feedback and plan etc.
I also apologise for being less active than Jeto here, being down a team member does stretch us thin, but I promise you when I have any fresh info that hasn’t already been shared I will post about it straight away!
I should have popped in more frequently to thank you all for taking the time to write everything up and just to let you know I am here and paying attention. I was worried about sounding like I was repeating myself without having any new info but I know acknowledging everything is important as well.
I am a little disappointed with the season chest drops. I have the platinum pass and so I’m using dungeon tickets for level 10 dungeon chests, today I got 8 level 10 dungeon chests that were basically skirmish and 1 chest with an actual season drop in it, uncommon spell pages for the new green spell Cleansing Doom. Seems like this has been a pattern for the new season. Would be nice to get some more season stuff when farming the new season, especially the spell pages.
Can confirm similar very weak drops. I’ve gotten an astonishing number of ruby and diamond chests which not only didn’t drop spells, but didn’t even drop gear above uncommon - and far too many which didn’t even drop gear at all, just food, iron, shards.
It’s nice when something does drop, but it does not motivate me to keep farming and spend more time in game when I feel blocked from progress on every front. Prior to the update I was actually spending enough time on the game that I was starting to worry for life balance, but the pendulum has swung pretty far towards ‘why am I bothering’.
Even if there is no new info, a quick message of “nothing yet to share but we are working in it” is always welcome since it helps us to feel that something is being done. You always know what you are doing but we don’t, so keeping us updated even with just some short messages is important to us, specially with big issues like this one we are having right now.
This is something I wonder too. I understand that planning a solution requires time to make sure everything goes well (although most of us would have liked to get a simple quick bandaid in the meantime while the complete fix is being worked out). But an explanation of why things have gone this way shouldn’t require time and discussion, should it? The changes working out as they have being intended or not should be something the team knows from the beginning. I also hope that the intention to do changes or not and how big these are going to be are also clear since last week (only the details on how the fix will be exactly carried out being left to discuss a decide).
Since the results of the spell rework have been so different to what was described as the goal of it, we would really like an explanation of how all of this has happened. And it doesn’t have to be a long explanation, just knowing which of the main three options described by Joker is the case should be enough.
Thanks for your answer, I hope we can have some more info soon on the issue and how it is going to be fixed.
LOL I nearly posted most of what Kafka said today on the weekend to calm people down but I didn’t have the time. But I’ll also echo what Higure said. Kafka’s post really really should have been posted Friday afternoon at the absolute latest, and before the weekend.
Seems someone was fiddling with one of the status effects and forgot to mention it in the patch notes. I’ve made my build using pestilent imps which causes disease to an opponent. Pre 2.5 it disease would remove some mana from both of the spells (assuming there was 2 spells) but now it only removes it from one. What happened!?!? It’s quite a nurf to that status effect.
For the last three consecutive days, the Daily Deals offers in the shop have been purchases that require either gems or crowns. There’s been nothing to buy with coins.
One day I could put down to a blip. Two days coincidence maybe. But three consecutive days……
No patch for PS4? So we just get shorted by not being able to fight dragon? And everyone gets no reward cuz not enough people able to enter to kill dragon? We L20 dragon daily
The hotfix is intended to go out today, but we have contacted our submission team to check they haven’t released anything early.
It is intended to be released by 11am AEDT. It appears it was released early for PS5, waiting to hear back from the submission team (not in our studio) about the other platforms
If it has only released on PS5, this is why PS4 players may be locked out, as Kingdom members are on the latest update - but this should resolve pretty quickly once everyone has the hotfix!
This should release, as intended, for all other platforms in about an hour.
Then it should be like any other update, if you are not on the latest version but other Kingdom members are, you will be locked out till you update.
After the intended release time, if you are on the latest update and you are locked out (like we had in 2.5) please reinstall before reporting.
Until then, please do not create any new bug reports.
edit: it was released early for PS5, no other platforms. We have asked the submissions team to push through 2.5.1 on PS4 as well, to prevent people being locked out. This does not affect any other console or platform.
